First Build Foam Halo 4 ODST MK2

So I started out with a question and posted some progress pics of the forearm pieces and decided it would be a good time to go ahead and start a build thread since I am at it. The forearms are ready for some detail trimming and smoothing before sealing and paint. Going to start on the elbow and shoulders later this week. The idea for the armor is a Nightfall-esc ONI operative/spook.

So far I have managed to complete the forearms and have the majority of the shoulder front detail pieces cut out and ready to begin beveling and assembly. After I complete the shoulders I will probably start on the boots and shins.

so after looking at the size on the full armor I realized that the shoulders my be scaled a bit small for the length and size of my arm but I think for now I am going to run with it since the forearm was about the right length for what i needed.

Made a little more progress today and got the knees done and tapped. The forearms and shoulders are plastidipped and drying. Still need to heat seal the knees once the dap dries and plastip them tomorrow if a hurricane doesn't stop me.

So quick build update for everyone. The shins, fore arms, and knees fully painted and shins need the last strap and closure done, knees need straps, thighs and shoulders need to be accent painted and cleared. Helmet is slowly being taped up for accent colors. Now to finish cutting out the torso templates and get started on it and finish figuring out all the strapping. Need to figure out the boot armor mounting and strapping and paint them as well

Its turning out great! I never did like quick deal though because I could never get it smooth enough to look good and you cant sand it, but I love the progress!

I managed to get a fairly smooth surface using a caulking tool and a wet finger to spread it out some so only the gaps show for the most part

That's what I did, but I just was pushing the clump and did too much water. I dont know. Tried it and used it but it never worked for me. I got used to woodland scenics foam putty. It is the same thing b it is a putty that dries into foam and is sandable

So I've made a little more progress as the torso is the only thing left to build and it's about three quarters of the way done. My shins are complete and buckled, knees are strapped, helmet has foam and is completely painted, forearms and shoulders are ready to go unless I decide to add Velcro to the inside to math the patch on my shirt. Thighs need support straps and that is about it. May also add Velcro to the knees and my pants for better support.

So I've got the torso complete and in 2 coats of leak seal and a primary coat of plastidip. After noticing that I am going to need to strap up the sides for some extra room and adjustment after paint I decided to play with the idea of molle style side panels to cover most of the gap. Only thing left is the butt plate and getting the ab and crotch plates strapped up and hopefully do the first full suit up this weekend and anything not done will have to wait til after a couple con weekends.

So I have been lacking on pics lately of the mostly finished project. I'll take some pictures of the first run this weekend at a deployment . Until then here are my m6 socoms in their make shift holsters. I may go a different direction on the holsters later.

So I have not got around to taking finished detail shots yet and still got a little more painting to do but, I debuted my armor during a deployment at Pensacon this past weekend with fireteam poseidon. Here is a shot of the completed armor. Was a good first run with minor things like the knee coming unglued thanks to the glue I used but easily super glued the strap back in place with no problems.
