Buyed today morning 1kg Resin and glued it on the first Parts, Helmet and Handplates. The Helmet was already finished with Epoxyd and milled Fiberglass, it was already strong, but i think the stronger the better and it worked good. The Handplates have only on Inlet, i make Custom Plates, like it or hate it :p

English Description: from left to the right: Resin, Hardener, milled Fiberglass (Have a Fiberglass-Mat to, but i use it only for the big Parts like Chest or Lower Torso)

The black Plates on the Side of the Helmet are glued on the inner Side, its normaly Velcro for the Face-Pads.

Well...yeah...it was my first Helmet, but befour i found this Board it was already finished, but its no Problem, it becomes Bondo on it after all hardened.

The only Fiberglass that i glue on the Outside is milled one, mixed to 30-40% with pure Resin.

DId you already paint it? Painting under the resin and glass is bads, the paint could chip off and then the resin has nothing to hold onto. Or did you paint the outside after it hardened?

Nope, nothing is painted yet, thats just the colored Paper ;)

Right now i got the complete right Side of the Armor finished for Resining, looks a little big, but badly gooood *raarrrr* (and much Time...get sick about thinking of the left Side *gg*)

The Chest is just printed now, that gonna take the hardest, in Point of Cutting and Glueing together...

The Painting gonna be Dark Black, maybe planning "Dark Knight" with silver or blue Visor and blue LEDs.

I made the same mistake with fiberglassing the outside of my helm and im really regretting it cus I've made the decision to start over completely on it. I really like the blue LED's, make them high power ones tho if you get the low power ones they wouldn't be very practical and would only give off enough light to make your helm look like a Christmas ornament.

By the Way, i see the Tut for Fiberglassing and it says to not to glass the Outside, but...i see there no Problem by one Part, just sand it and Bondo....i have no Prob with my Helmet, he fits perfekt on the Head, the only one Prob is the Visor...dont wanna by a expensive Bike-Visor that not fits in the End, does Alternatives exist?

What the Lighting belongs...well...i got some Surefire Lamps...but i think nobody sees my Armor completly then when he´s blind :p

Fiberglassing the outside and sanding it just takes off the glass if you sand it all off, if you are going to bondo the helmet, there is no point of sanding the fiberglass outside. You just layer on the bondo, and sand that out.

I fiberglassed the outside of my helmet and then finished up with fiberglass jelly. Fiberglassing the outside is a good idea if you take it all the way with fiberglass. Bondo breaks to easy anyway...... pray you don't drop it if you use bondo! ouch!
