well its 6am, been up all night pepping (ugh), wanted to go streight thru and finish the helmet but back ache has struck.

Done the front section of the helmet to ad to my chest piece (mk vi) using robos files with the small chin samuray version (think its dubean33's) my dads just gone away for 6 week so i can use his garage for all the messy stuff which i was hoping to get my helmet on the way tomorrow (see how we go on)

Have a look and see what you think, 3rd attempt at the helmet, first one scaled wrong and was too big, second was masking tape and fell to bits the third day, hopeing this one will be ok! so i can cast a few to mess with electronics (orderd an animatronics set for bend sensors for sound/light fx! which hopefully will be sweet!)

s@~!"ing myself about the resin rondo then bondo process, really dont wanna mess it up so will try the chest first as if i fail then id rather do that one again, here they are

your pictures are fine. Would be nice if they were a bit bigger though. Try photobucket. Your pep looks good though. What do you mean by Samurai?

hope no one minds but it wont let me edit my first post (keeps locking up) so here are the better picks,

the samuray is i think if i remember rightly, an edited version of dubean33's helmet, where the chin has been pulled in to be a little smaller (in my opinion better) for movie accuracy, i got it from a thread on here somewhere, i guess samurays the dude that did the editing

CLASSIC! maybe ill try going round doing random stuff when im done with my suit (Ironman Moons UK?)

could you post like the refferance or a drawing of the samurai ironman ? cause i know 4 different iron man samurai's XD
looking sweet tho ^^

sure, really sorry need to post credit, it wasent dubeans i dont think, it was modified dungbeetle by samuray, heres the reference shots from his alterations which also fixes the removeable back,

Your peps are looking good man. Don't freat over the hardening and body filler stages. Just take your time, you'll be fine. I would suggest pepping something smaller like a forearm or shoulder bell for your first round of resin/bondo stages. It will get you familiar with how the stuff works and you will be more confident tackling that helmet and chest.

As far as editing goes, after you click edit, click advanced, then it will let you save your changes. Hope this helps dime. Just have fun with it man. It'll come to you!:D

ok quick question,
to anyone who has done it, howd you go about ear assembly? you know the circular pieces that clue on to the ears with no flaps? do you attatch them now? or bondo and glue them seperate? same with the ear pods themselves? because iv seen some peps which are made so you can do the pods differently, with this model i cant because it leaves a big hole in the side of the helmet.

one more....
is there any similatiries between this and the war machine helmet? i want one of each, and if i should cast any pieces themselves like the earpods (theyre so annoying) to duplicate,

thanks, done the sides and earpods, just going to cut and join the back, will be done soone hopefully!

just finished pepping the helmet, took a while as jurassic park was on tv then a few other movies i got distracted with, one wuick question, when i resin? do i tape the front and back together like in the picture? what about the middle bit at the top where the top of the faceplace goes up either side? because its quite floppy,
let me know what you think!
cheers

Nice work man! Love ironman so much. What animatronic kit did you buy?

Ive been working with Arduino's for a while (Not a good programmer tho) and they can be very powerful tools. Are you going to make the faceplate raise and lower?

Cheers.

i think it was the uno, or mega...? yeh thats the idea, not worked with them before so will have to see where it goes, also wanna install bend sensors for hand/chest repulsors, theres an instructable on the repulsors with the program already written so just going to have to look into the faceplate, see if i can come up with anything, as iv never programmed before. only worked with electronics but mainly following instructions (dont understand it, just i can solder) made my own pcb's n stuff. going to pep the brace today and work on hardening that first so if i mess up it doesn't really matter, only had about 4 hours sleep as iv got the dent man coming to do my car.
If i get time ill start work on it today as im working tomorrow untill the weekend

For The resining question,(I just recently learned tape and resin don't mix well), I suggest hot glueing the parts together instead of held on by tape. That's what I'm going to do with mine. And then separate them later with a rotary tool.

Also there is a war machine helm by dub3an if that's his name, I forget. I'm peping it now and it's kicking my butt lol

I suggest getting some binder clips to hold the faceplate and jaw onto the helmet. I used them and they worked really well. But... You have to be careful not get resin into the seam where they join. Or else, you will have to cut it apart with an exacto or dremel. If you do it right, they will separate cleanly, and you will just need to go back and resin the tabs where the faceplate and helmet meet. You can get these clips pretty much anywhere office supplies are sold,.. Walmart, Office depot, etc. Hope this helps and good luck it!:)

My friend's doing that one. I swear, Halo helmets have NOTHING on that beast. It's simply CRAZY.

Also, Resin + tape = not good. If the pieces are meant to slide then I wouldn't attach them at all and resin them seperately. Just be careful about warpage, as it'll need to be niform in shape in order to fit. If not, then just hot glue them together.

just had chance to update, already glued the pieces together dammit, maybe ill melt and remove them and use the clip method, sounds easier then splitting which i imagine to be a pain in the backside

i know! ive been looking at all the parts and been thinking "what have i gotten myself into?" lol i plan on making another iron man helmet and modify the design to make it more war machineish

Yes it is a pain. I made the mistake of getting resin in the gaps on my IM helmet. Luckily, I only have to remake a one inch piece of the flange. Good lucky dime. Hope it works out for ya buddy.

hi, not had any chance to do any work on it since update, been working/ill, hoping to get alot of work done saturday, one thing, when i looked at the uk supplies, i got davids isopol 38 i think, and also upol, which one is for the bondo and which for just filling?
cheers
