Forgot there is section in 405th that is dedicated for stuff that isn't halo hah! Then again I'm not that active on here.

Sharing for you what is potentially the worlds first "Interstellar Marine" to my knowlegde, and also my second ever made costume.
Which had no templates as such no one has done it yet atleast to complition so I had to make my own from the hi-poly model that was sent by the dev. Lets just say the pepfiles I created were "good enough" for me, there were many things I accidenlty messed up in the model but was aware of them during build process to do them properly.

Suit is pretty much complete now, just waiting for uniform to arrive but here's how the progress went. Unless you count the backpack i'm still working on. I'd say this is also first and last suit where I'll ever try to make camo patterns with akryllic paint and sponge.

In between some of the pictures I did make timelapse/update videos if anyone is intrested to watch:

Overall I'm pretty happy how it turned out even tho the camo (mostly on vest/chest piece) looks absolute carbage live. Incedently the camo looks suprisingly good on camera so guess I did something right HAH!
Can't wait for uniform to arrive so I can wear entire "complete suit". I still have about 2 weeks to complete the backpack for the first event I'll take the suit to.

Here are the awful foam templates I made and used to make this suit to happen:

Nicely done. Fantastic details. Love the helmet and love how you hinged it to open. Is that going to rub the paint or did use spacers? I don't think the paint job look cabbage (don't get the phrase since I'm American) but I agree, in the pic it looks good. You should 100% add the files to the archives.

I used Gunmetal plastidip as primer and painted with acryllic paint with sponges on top it. I just cut out the patterns to thick paper and then applied to the armor, almost destroying the armor in process. Pattern side of the eva foam especially was not helpful when it came to painting the camp.

As for adding the files... I personally first would like to get approval from the person who gave me the player model, the father & main developer of the game. But also I would prefer to recreate the files, As I mentioned on the opening post, they are not exacly friendly for other people. There are alot of problems with the pepfiles that would make 95% of the people go crazy.

I'm an extreme lurker here but just as tip when it comes to translating semi digital camo patterns, print the digital squares on card stock (tetris style with spaces) then use the a sponge so you can layer the paints to get the pattern you like. just purely IMO but I wear camo almost daily. love the look of the armor man, maybe some light gray to break out the white. Can't wait to see it all finished and together, Good luck!

It has been done!

That's pretty much what I did Stallenjager, however mine was not digital camo pattern, it's Finnish M05 (picture below for referense) . They are similiar to some extent but M05 has round edges compared to digi. Thinking back now I could have used straight up cardboard, cut that to digital camo pattern, sponge it and it propably would end up looking like M05.
One reason why mostly the camo failed was I decided to rush it, even when I keep telling myself and anyone not to ever do it with costumes hah. But also the foam for chest piece was done on pattern side, which absolutely did not like my attemps to paint it. Mostly the chest piece ended up being the one that really failed in my eyes, but it didn't ruin the suit to point where I should repaint it.

EDIT: I Should point out that the ingame referense picture at begining is not supposed to be digi based that's just my halfass work of creating one of the camos from picture in this post. Rather than doing it properly I used M05 forest camo as base at bottom and added 3 layers of transparent digital camo layers on top and boom, that weird camo came to life. So the game camo and the one on the suit both ended up being completly different from what the actual camo is supposed to be. At very least I won't get in trouble with our army for copying their protected camo pattern. Overall I'm still happy with how it turned out.

I now have greenlight from the dev & father of the Interstellar Marines to share the pepfiles.

NOTE: FOAM ONLY, they cannot be used for paper+resin etc. They are not suitable for beginners, infact they are awful files but get the job done aslong as you keep eye out for the model and referense pictures. Make sure to read the readme file in the rar. http://www.405th.com/file-archive.php?categoryid=341

Wow, that looks great dude! Sorry to hear about it falling apart, but it stayed on and it looks like you had a good time.

Ain't giving up that easily on 2 day event. First thing we heared as we carried our armor inside: 'LOOK HALO SPARTANS'. That one time we were not wearing our reach costumes.

Ive had worse . today a kid thhought I was a Pink power ranger .... * fail*

The IMs look really cool !!. Esp the visor shape. It flat our reminds me of the stig from top gear.

There are other visors planned tho that's all concept art so no actual files yet. I can't freehand at all and I have no imagination for making any custom things so I went with the 'good old plain' look.
It's not only openable but also removable incase I ever make another one so I can switch them on fly.

I completly forgot: We took the armor for spin!
| Mah personal video
| Our forge video of same event, alternative shots and some sexy stormtrooper action <3

Looks really good watched most of your Youtube videos and it came along well! Iv never worked With Foam but have a huge appreciation for those who do, iv always wanted to learn but maybe later. Good Job buddy! God Bless :)

I love paper in terms of detail it achieves however I simply cannot take the next part, hardening it. Those substances are way toxic and require alot of work to make sure it all works. Foam on the other hand is somewhat toxic free, assuming you don't burn or heat it too much. However while foam is easy to work with, it becomes complete nightmare if you don't have sharp blades, and those blades dull extremely fast pace. Knife sharpener makes it less of hassle. :D

A Superman pose.......really?........Now all you need is a red cape.......

I actually was preventing the shoulder pieces from falling as they are attached too low because on my own high enough is impossible, and show off everything at same time without blocking the view. ;)
