Update and big photo dump here

So it took me a while but I finished all of the repairs from my mistake. I also went ahead and finished leak sealing all of the pieces

Now my original plan was to try to finish this before school starts in September. As you can see that is not the case so I will have to find time either after school or on the weekends. With that, there probably wont be a lot of updates but I will still continue to work on my suit. All that there is left is sanding, painting, and weathering and I will be done. Now my new goal will try to aim for Fan expo Toronto in October and if that does not work, then Halloween.

This looks just amazing. And you have done it in such a short time. Good job mate!
When you start your next school year, take a step back. Don't rush it because you think you have to be done soon. Give it time.
You've already proven that you can do good work when you invest time.

Soooo, I’m new here, but not to costuming. I’ve had the hardest time finding good Spartan templates. I want to make a custom Mk VI, where would be the best place to get templates for EVA foam? I’m looking at doing a Mk VI chest and thighs, default Reach shins and knees, H3 CQB helmet, and EOD shoulder pauldrons.

I have downloaded the Spartan VI templates (these ones-> Halo 3 - MJOLNIR Mark VI - Standard LD ) but I haven't a clue how to open them and print them off. Any help would be appreciated. I am not very computer savvy when it comes to things like this XD

Here are your EOD pauldons

And here is your CQB

Thanks so much! I was having such a hard time figuring out how to well…decrypt them, it felt like, lol. I’ve figured out how to use Adobe and Pepakura files. Thanks a ton.

Okay, so, I’ve recently come across some trouble printing some files from the Reach Spartan armor foam templates, and I don’t really even know where I should ask this question, but you guys helped out big last time, so here goes.

When I go to print the templates in pepakura viewer 3, this little message bar pops up and says that the size of the file and the size of the paper in my printer don’t match. In the past, this hasn’t been a problem, because the templates would just print half, 1/3, 1/4 of the template, then do the rest on the next page. That’s how it worked for the Astartes cosplay I did not to long ago, but now it’s giving me grief and I can’t progress without templates.

I have virtually no experience with pepakura besides hitting “print” and looking at the 3D model to help me see how it’s supposed to look.

Send help.

The warning it's throwing is exactly what's written on the tin. The paper size you have default in your printer isn't the same as the layout you have open in Pepakura. File > Printer and Paper Settings will be the menu you want to check to see the size since it's probably A4 or Letter and needs to be swapped to what your printer has.

Thanks a lot, Turbo, I’ll check and see what my printer paper size is and try to change it. Hopefully it’ll be that simple. Technology has never really been cooperative with me, lol

Thanks for the help but I don't think that I will be able to use shoe goo (not enough space). Do you know of any other way to reinforce the seams or is hot glue good enough?
you can definitely use hot glue to reinforce the back of the seams, just fill in the cracks behind the seam and make sure the existing hot glue doesn't heat back up and make the seam split.

Ok so big milestone for me. I finally finished painting all of the pieces.

While there are still some minor stuff to do like weathering, I feel like I am at a point where I can wear this in public. Also, while I would like to make changes or outright restart so that it can be perfect, for my first time making a suit, I'd say I did a pretty good job.
More pics on the way with the weathering and also with me trying on the suit.
But of course every spartan needs a weapon. So I am going to start on that soon.

Did not have time to do any weathering but got to wear the suit in public for the first time at my school for Halloween.
I can say that I got a lot of attention from everyone at school and a lot of compliments as well. There was also a small costume competition which I won.
Here is me trying it on the night before:

Here is a pic at school:

Yooo! Looks like you can get some good movement in that suit! Is it comfortable/easy enough to walk and sit in?
It is surprisingly not that bad to sit in. After all I did sit in it for 2.5hs per class during school and it was bearable. As for walking, just walking is fairly easy, going down or up stairs require more movement but I was still able to climb them.
