While chatting on the 405th discord, I brought up the idea of 3D printing a SPNKR rocket launcher with PVC pipes and a kind gentleman sent me a link to one made by MrJamin. Hence I went ahead and downloaded everything, fired up Cura and processing and saving the G-Code files.

That's a lot of G-Code files, more than the VK-47 Flatline I did.

As usual I will print the shortest first and work my way forward to longer and larger prints.

Progress Update 3

I decided to do some colour planning and preparing materials once I finished printing all 49 pieces for the Spnkr.

For this build, I went for the authentic Halo 3 grey-ish look hence I chosen black, sliver, steel and gunmetal as the colour scheme.

The pieces will be painted using this brand of airbrush paint.

In the meantime, I already printed 29 pieces out of 49 (59.1% completed)

Progress Update 4

Its being a week since the last update post and a lot of progress had being made.

At the time of writing this, I had printed 42 out of 49 pieces (85.7% complete).

Purchased the paints for the painting job later.

Brought some PVC pipes from the hardware store based on MrJamin's specifications and one thing I realized was that its quite hard to get a nice straight cut with a hacksaw and a not-big-enough vice hence all the cuts ended up looking janky and off. At least I can use it as an excuse to make the thing looked old and worn from repeated use.

Progress Update 6

Made some progress in the assembly of the SPNKR.

The center drum and back drums are glued together using superglue while using the PVC pipes as an alignment guide.

I had some issues with the handle as I realized my printer often makes corners warped and curved so it won't be sticking and/or aligning properly so I would need to use some wood putty and lots of wet sanding to get it to the quality I wanted.

When I assembling the back support, one of the supports went out of alignment and I can't get it off as the glue dried within 3 seconds. I would need to reprint these three pieces again.

Good god man, so many parts!

Progress Update 7

I am really not happy on how the handle turned out to be honest, the seamlines for the split parts are too obvious and didn't stick together really well with superglue, hence, I decided to reprint the entire handle. I used the unsplit version of the model and made my own cuts, just enough to prevent unnecessary support structures during the print and fired up the printer on the weekend to get it out.

Overall, I being printing 5 handle parts from Saturday night until today and I stuck them together and I am quite happy with the end result.
