Hello again! I've decided to do a small project before I receive my 3d printer at the end of this year. I had some extra materials from my previous build, so I decided to do a sparten's best friend (marine). Since there is not much armor, I can serve as a handler for fellow spartens and odsts, or solo cons. I have some great ideas for this build, but not sure if they will work, so we'll just have to see. Here is a model of what I'm doing (Red is foam pieces):
Capture.PNG

Everything else will probably be store bought (military gear etc.)
Still planning out this build, so I haven't begun crafting. (That working around school and work). Probably will start beginning November or when I have time lol.
Until then!

Here's the look I'm going for:

Hi again! Finally started the build process on my custom marine. Starting with the helmet I made some progress for this build session. I will be posting weekly updates on my build, though that's if I don't have any plans lol.

This is the base layer. I will add detailing foam and use form clay to fill in the gaps. Pretty straight forward at the moment. Until next time!

Finally another update on the build. Collage has been giving me hell, but things are slowing down a bit, which allowed me to have some spare time working on the helmet. Basically finished the foam base of the helmet and smoothed out form clay at some seams, much like bondo for 3d prints.

Once that dries, I will dremmel and sand parts of the helmet. Parts outlined in permanent marker will be dremmeled to match details of the helmet in-game. As far as fit test, the helmet fits perfectly on my head, but still needs some padding near the forehead due to the shape of the helmet.

After dremmeling and Sanding, I will begin attachments and chin strap. Things will go by very quickly, since putting together the helmet took quite alot of time, since it is the most complex part of the build (also my first foam bucket lol). Glad it came out symmetrical, was worried it was going to be uneven, but it worked in the end.

Attachments:
-HU/RS (flash light)
-CNM (command network module)
-Mic
-others...

Paint scheme:
Primary chioces:
Black
Dark grey (prefered)
Grey
Light grey
White

Visor color:
Red
Blue
Green
Purple
Black
Gold
Silver
Etc.

Secondary choices:
Same as visor
White
Black

Any thoughts on what I should choose for Primary, secondary color schemes and/or Visor will really help in my decision making. Until next time!

Here's another update! Helmet is near completion and I started on the chest piece.
I added the attachment HU/RS, otherwise known as the flash light/head lamp to the right of the helmet. Took a flashlight that was similar to the one in the game and added the rest in foam.

I used tape to cover the lens and cut around the tape to match the flashlight.
This is to make it look similar to the game and to lessen the brightness (it is blindingly bright) so now the light doesn't hurt when it shines in my face.

Second attachment is a UA plate attachment. This version fits the best compared to the other versions of the UA. It was very simple to craft.

Normally you don't see this attachment on the military/trooper helmet, so I don't have a reference that has this helmet, but another helmet will do.

Lastly we have the CNM. This took the longest to craft, but was still simple the craft.

Also added the chin strap as you can see in the above pics. It doesn't really keep the helmet on my head, it helps more with positioning my helmet so that I won't wear it crooked.
Next step would be to dremmel some more bits, and it will be ready for priming.
The very last thing for the helmet would be installing the visor. Would like to get painting done before I install it, just so that it doesn't get dirty or ruined.
I decided on a purple visor as well as an emile style skull mask. (Simalar to 2009 ghost mask).

Moving on we have the chest piece. Not much going on yet. Still figuring out whether to do clamp shell, vest style, slide it over my head, or a half clamp shell method.

That's all for now hopefully I'll finish it by tomorrow, since it does not have any small pieces. (Pretty much the front was the most complex)
Also I ordered 1" cube Magnets to use for my AR mounting system (simalar to lobster's method for mounting his AR)
I was thinking of angling the cubes so that it would mount the AR the correct position, but we'll see.

Last thing, I know the troopers do not have gauntlets, but I feel like they would be a great addition to my marine.
I'm not sure what they will look like, but they are going to be very generic, unlike odst or sparten gauntlets.

Until next time!

Excellent work on the helmet! Spartans look great but it makes me happy to see the marines being made too

Hello again! It's been awhile. Finals have finished for me so now I have more time to work on my projects. Near finished upgrading my Nerf AR, replacing the nerf ammo counter screen with a game accurate ammo counter, and adding a flashlight.

Here are some progress pics on the set up:

Helmet and chest/midsection are crafted and are ready for dremmel and painting process. The rest of the armor pieces will be quite simple to finish off so we are almost there to painting!

The magnet mounting system is con ready, and I'm confident it won't fall off of my back.

That's all for now, not sure whether to do white or dark grey or black for my color scheme.
