Alright, so I'll admit I'm brand new to all of this fan-cast armor making business. So far all I've done is a bit of work with the Halo ODST Dutch Helmet. I'm currently using the pepakura program to make it out of 150lb card stock. I have most of the helmet cut out and put together, and i can feel that I'm nearing the end of its construction. I know I have a ton of work left to do on it, but I wanted to start this thread to see if anyone had more insight into it (how I'm doing) or if there were any questions regarding how I constructed it. Hopefully I'll have most of it done by the time Reach comes out.
Anyway, this is what I have done so far:

umm.... how come your paper doesnt have any numbers?

Good Question, that how the file looked when I downloaded it off of the Wikipedia site. It still fits together fine, you just have to have a computer up with the diagram showing.

the edge id isnt turned on maybe?
nice helmet by the way, interested to see how it turns out :)

Hey thank you very much, I just checked and there is indeed a way to turn on the numbered edges..huh..never noticed that before..either way thanks for the support, and just a quick update I finished peping it, and just put on a coat of resin...I may need a few more, and a ton of sanding...but it will get done!

Alright update on the Dutch Helmet. Just finished fiber-glassing it, and it doesn't look too bad. Last time I hadn't even finished putting it together. Now Its all put together, resined, and fiber-glassed. Next I'll start sanding it, so I'll be sure to post more pictures. In the mean time, this is what I have done so far:

Its a huge step from where I first began, and I can only hope that the rest of this project goes smoothly.

p.s. Fiber-glassing sucks! The fibers kept getting stuck to the outside of the helmet while I was working on the inside. It was a pain to say the least, but at least its done now.

Okay, so now I've filled some spots and sanded a good portion of it. I'll probably refill a few spots and sand it again tomorrow. I'll post so more pictures soon. It's looking pretty good.

So to begin with...WOW.. Ive done a lot of work in the last week, and its showing. Not only did I finish sanding it, but I also cut out the visor, cut out the vents, dremeled a few rough spots, started work on the visor itself, painted the base coat on the helmet, and filled in some extra holes that didnt look quite right. More or less I'm nearing the end at an accelerated pace, and couldn't be happier with how its going, especially because this is my first build. Next I'll finish sanding the extra spots I puttied. I'll then go on to paint it, and then pad it. The visor I think will be the toughest part, especially because I'm going to heat-gun the visor around my original cut-out. Anyways, here's what I have so far:
