One thing I might point out...

I'm glad you like the idea though. It's my goal to become a game developer when I grow up, and that was one of the main aspects of the game idea I came up with.

Have you played dead space yet? They have an interesting addition to there game which allows you to modify the weapons. not technically in the way your speaking of however.

Do you guys remember what an AR even looks like? There is no way you can add a scope to it.

Well, if they removed that extremely bulky ammo counter, it would probably look like this:

That big shroud completely covers and protects the scope.

Maybe you could make the BR be automatic or 3 round burst or something along that line.
