Some time ago I collaborated with Skupilkinson (Skip) on a Hayabusa helmet, I hand-drew some ortho drawings for him so he could model it easier. Now that he's released the pep file, here are the drawings I have finished so far.

Pencil, ink and rulers relax me, AutoCad and Photoshop do not. That is why these were hand-drawn and not digital - to anyone who might wonder that.

Please do not repost these anywhere else.
Comments are welcome, but if you feel you must make corrections to them, please PM me with changes that should be made and I will update the source drawings. And if you do feel that changes need to be made, please provide some detailed screenshots pointing out the mistakes. I did a ton of research with many many new screenshots that I took, and adjusted the drawings to correct for the horrible camera distortion of most of them.

I will eventually get around to inking these, but I've got several projects that come before this one so I can't say when they'll be completed.
I am also hoping to figure out the crest/ spike details and will have new drawings for them when I get there. Again, don't know when it will be.

And now to make with the pictures:
Click the thumbnails to link to the full size versions. NOTE: The full sized ones are 7 x 11 inches, and 150 dpi.

Seriously awesome work on this! Especially for being hand drawn. Definitely saving these as reference.

Well, you know I love 'em Ruze! I don't think my Busa model would have been anywhere near as good as I think it is if it weren't for your drawings buddy.

do you have any other helmets done like this??

I would love to see detail for CQB, EOD, And ODST

This is all I have for now.
Since I do it by hand it takes me 3 times longer than it should, if I did it with AutoCAD or something.
So far I've only really done it by request, and it usually ends with some kind of trade-work agreement.

Ah... a kindred spirit, lol. I too only draft my schematics by hand (as you now know from having seen my H3 SR drawings posted elsewhere here). No AutoCAD or Photoshop for me, either.

In my case, it's not so much a matter of the digital modelling approach not being as relaxing as pen-to-paper modelling (though I can understand and appreciate your take on that), it's the simple fact that as I've always relied on my drawing skills to draw my own prop blueprints I've never even bothered to try the other approach. I'd be all thumbs if I did, lol.

Fantastic orthographic drawings you've done there btw, buddy. You got some leet skills there :D

I can totally relate to that. Took me much longer than I'd expected to get those H3 SR schematics drawn up for LeeKegan's project, and even then I didn't have all of them ready to go, lol. Still, he's managed to do very well with what I was able to provide him with.

More often than not, most of the prop blueprints I've drawn up have been for my own scratch-build projects, but recently I've gotten into doing them upon request. I've never come to any sort of trade-work agreement for any of them, though; I just do it because I enjoy it :p lol
