Helmet Lights - Can they be too bright?

I'm using 5mm Pre Wired LED, White DC3-6V, and I'm using 6V (4x AAA) and they are Bright.
It's the Infinite Master Chief helmet from Galactic Armory, with the lights on the side of the helmet.

Now that I have them in there, they are really bright. Walking around my house at night in the dark, and they are surprisingly powerful.
Think I should reduce it from 6V to 3V? Or do we like them really bright?

FWIW: We are in a major Rigging Crunch phase before Dragon Con!!!
Thanks, can't wait to see you there!
