Helmet padding

I searched and searched and i cant find anything to use for the helmet padding that doesn't require buying a bike helmet and taking it out of that. So what kind of foam do you guys use and where to buy? I would like to get the stuff they use in motorcycle and dirt bike helmets! For more fluff and space occupying.

go to a craft store or a fabric store and they should have sheets of foam for sale and then just cut it into patterns like this and clue it in. I think thats the way im gonna go.

Screw using sponges, go buy a cheap blue foam sleeping bag mat, they're like 4-5 feet long and are very cheap (i forget how much) They're pretty thick and work well with hot glue.

Or, like someone else suggested elswhere (I think it was tsau-mia?), buy a yoga mat, cut it up and line your helmet with it using hot glue.

Sleeping bag mats are thicker than a yoga mat.

Or, you can always buy a cheap helmet liner at a hardware store for 5-10 dollars. They come with clips where you glue in (hot glue/epoxy) and then you just slide the liner in and it fits snug.

Something like this maybe?

Someone has used Soccer/hockey shin pads before for padding, it looked real fancy too. It was on stormtrooper armor, but I'm sure it would work for MC helmet too. They used the knee cap piece for the top head support, and the main shin piece cut up and placed around the helmet inside.

I was the peep who used the yoga/camp pad for my helmet.
It's hypoallergenic, comfortable, and super cheap :)

There's also upholstery foam used in furniture making or the fancy helmet liners.

I went to Wallie-World (Wal-Mart) and got a roll of foam for about $12 or so in the crafts. I used it to repair my thrashed headliner in my truck and still had enough to reline my old bike helmet that I wear when i get stupid on my bicycle. It's about 1" thick by 2' by about 6' I thank? Just get some 3-M spray gunk and place it in your helmet. It should work fine.

Im kinda new to this but im gonna try using the expandable foam in a can like you get at DIY stores.

Should be able to sculpt it into a rough shape and then ive got a motorbike liner to go on top. Should be light and quite comfortable, plus i can cut out little sections of the foam to fit the electronics. Bluetooth headset for phone and addapted for X-Box live is the plan!

Don't use expanding foam. Everything I have read about people using it turns out poorly.
