Props Hidden Blade Idea (No gravity)

Just an idea so here it goes. I'm sure everyone owns a clicky pen in which you press a button on the back and the pen writting part (the ball point) comes out. I was thinking that perhaps this could be used to create a hidden blade. Replace ball point with blade, and well there you go.

Yes, if the switch blade is automatic. Means button activated both ways. That is what my design is based off of.

You could use the retractable pen design but I don't think an actual pen would work because the pen will retract at most 1.5cm.
You would have to study the design of the pen and make it on a larger scale.

I have been collecting pen springs (smashing pens from school) in hopes of making a spring loaded dart launcher. Might you be able to stack springs in pen casing? If this doesn't work you might be able to use connectors of some sort. It seems that the best trigger mechanism for what you propose might be a side button(or slider) to compress the springs. As an inspiration, have you seen those spring loaded triggers that you pull a slider all the way down a barrel and let it fall into a short groove so you only need to move the slider a short distance to launch(throw out a blade, in this adaption) with considerable force and speed.

CAUTION this sounds very illegal to me. As far as my understanding goes any kind of edged device that is automatic (spring loaded) is illegal. Does any one know of any written laws that center around this. You can buy switch blade knife kits all day long (they do sell them,well at least a wile back) and own them legally its just illegal to put them together. it still would be cool though. just don't get busted pepper spray.. is......not.....fun.

Question: are flick blades illegal? From what I have seen they are not illegal(If you want to you can even carry a fold out pull saw). Just a question.

i'd thought about using a clicky pen idea, but i think it might be not so cool with the law, and the collapsible tai chi sword idea good even though its uses gravity. good luck though.......and i wouldnt recomend stabing people with pens

Reminds of a switch balde, so i wouldn't recommend it. I could swear switch blades are illegal,but I'm not sure....too much to remember...I wouldn't suggest this, you could get into trouble with it...

I thought this was dead! any who... i had no intention of creating such a prop or intended to have these similarities to a banned weapon. This idea was merely to try and help progress peoples work on their Altair costumes.

would work too, but i think that if you are trying to replicate the Assassin's Creed Blade, you might just want to try something else.

I wouldnt let myself do this considering last year I was playing with a regular 'ol pen spring and suddenly the end just went BOING! and next thing i know theres a spring going in one side the tip of my thumb and coming out the other...had to go to the hospital and it was EXTREMELY painful...at least i got out of science lol...never used spring pens again but for some reason i just bought a 7 inch bladed military combat knife and havent even so much as pricked myself ...irony LOL
