Who really uses Yahoo anyway? I don't think I've visited Yahoo in years. :cautious:

I've used MSN search before, and I just hate the way the get your results on searches with them.

I think this is an attempt to dominate a market they really don't need. Can anyone say monopoly?

I also doubt very much that Yahoo will refuse this offer. Everyone likes to be rich, $$$$.

I'll stick with Google and Wikipedia, thank you very much. :p

I like this:

"Today, the market is increasingly dominated by one player, who is consolidating its dominance through acquisition," Microsoft said.

Talk about Ironic. :rolleyes

hahahahahhahaha this purchase a monopoly?... are u kidding me?..

current market conditions show that google is the monopoly in the internet biz... their acquisition of double click proves that ... not only that but their market share is 50+% where as msn and yahoo combined are about 30%....

This is more of a desperate attempt by microsoft at gaining market share and is done so in order to be able to pose more of a threat to google... which sad to say may not work because microsoft and yahoo's corp cultures are so different.

You guys know that the purchaser of myspace has begun to sell its interest, could this be because myspace is losing to facebook? or that its heading in that direction?..... microsoft is currently vested in facebook at 1.6% which they puchased for like $240 million. THAT VALUES FACE BOOK AT $15 BILLION... if this merger goes through, it will be interesting to see how yahoo/msn will play a role in advertising for facebook. not only that but they have the power to create applications to drive their banner ad campaign (which may be implemented on facebook but possibly designed by microsoft).

itll be intersting to see how this pans out im sure that there will possibly be some negotiations. anyway if you looked at googles news today they dropped 10% at their failure to meet projected revenues. in the end, this is great news for yahoo stock holders.

The problem is that there a bunch of companies they own- Flickr and del.icio.us would affect me most.

Time to back up my bookmarks and photos so I can re-host them somewhere else if the day comes..

Meh, I dont care what they do with yahoo, I use google as my search engine. Although paying that much for a company, that is a TON!

If I got 44 billion I would just retire, buy a nice house, a nice car, scooter, and live it!
