How I Installed Handplates

I used the following:
1/4 inch Chicago Screws
Dremel
Drill Bit
Shoe Goo
Wood Burning Tool
Pencil
Black Thin Pad from Craft Store

1. Trace Handplate with Pencil
2. Use the Dremel and the drill bit and make two holes in the back side if the Handplate deep enough for the Chicago Screw to sit in but do not go all the way through the Handplate.
3. fill each hole with Shoe Goo and put the Chicago Screw in the hole ensuring it is all the way in with the screw portion at the top and straight.
4. Let the Shoe Goo dry for 24 hrs.
5. Once dry mark the Black Pad and make holes for the screws to go through with the wood burning tool.
6. Set the Handplate on the glove and mark the glove where the screws will go through. Use the wood burning tool to make the holes in ther glove as well.
7. Put screws through and screw on the male end of the screw and you are done.

Here are some images of what it will look like. I use this method so I can use one pair of gloves for all handplates.

What is keeping the glove material from possibly tearing.

Are you using any fender washers to add more surface area in the glove area or are you just relying on the screw heads?

Thanks,

Doug

Isn't it uncomfortable to have the two screws against you hand? Just seams like it would be, other then that sounds good to me :)

Snap buttons might work better and you won't have screw heads poking that back of your hand..

Fixing your handplates to gloves: $40
Having your daughter flip the fingers to an entire forum: priceless

For everything else, there's the 405th.

the material used for padding takes up any excess screw so it doesn't poke her in the back of the hand. I used the wood burning tool to make the hole in the glove so it melts it and makes that area hard so the screw won't rip through. They are pretty comfortable actually. I used this method with mine as well. I seen velcro used before but then some plates are heavy and that doesn't hold to well. This is just another method I found that works.

She's not flipping anyone the fingers.. She seems too nice for that :D

Is she getting a full suit as well? That would be neat!

Oh yes. I just started pepping her boots and we bought shins from rachciav and handplates from Privateer along with her helmet. Her chest armor and back pack are being done by adventSpartanMatrix. It is slowly getting done.

If you live in England she is! Good thing I don't! To me it's just a couple of peace signs. :p

Nice idea, might have to use this... Of course, it only works with casted plates, unless you fiberglass the female end of the screw in.

not just england, wales and scotland too, or great britain as its colloquially reffered to!

and only two mounting points seems a little unsecure to me, but it seems like a good idea, nice work ithica

Sounds good then. Using three mounting points sounds like it would work a little better but this is a great idea.
