How to paste a picture in Google Sketchup

I am currently trying to make a knife in google sketchup and i am wondering how to paste a picture so i can use it for reference. I have already seen people use google sketchup and when i was viewing the thread i saw that they had a picture pasted to use for reference and they built right off the picture. so i am wondering how exactly to do that.
i have already looked up yutube videos and they were all talking about something else.
if this thread is in the wrong place feel free to move it

File --> Import and choose "All Supported Image Types" (jpg, png, tif, etc)

do you know how to make a hole in between a trigger guard, because i am having trouble with that?

I haven't tried modeling in SU but I'm leaning towards making a circle and then using the Push/Pull feature to make the hole.
