As with everything else Doc has alluded to here, information on Pepakura and how to do it/use it can be found in "stickied" topics around the board. Check out the "Cardboard and Pepakura" Forum and you'll find everything you need to know about Pepakura. Oh, and welcome to the board...

Stickies taught us all what we know today and more.

Pepakura may be a good start rather than going straight up molded with clay and such, it isnt cheap. You could make a good looking pepakura suit for the money it takes to just mold 1 helmet.

Maybe even 2 suits.

so if i take my time and put good effort into it I can make a pretty good looking suit of MARK VI out of cardboard??

Well I guess you could make a cardboard suit, but pepakura has proven to be more accurate than cardboard.

*DoC's way use vinyl cutter to plot out on full posterboard sheet.

Pepakura is meant for printing out on what's called "cardstock". It's thinner than cardboard but thicker than standard paper, and when put together is still very rigid, which is what you want.

People have been known to make thier MJOLNIR armour out of cardboard, but not necessarily with the use of the Pep 3DO files.

I would strongly suggest you read the tutorial thread Vexona linked to in her post to learn more about it. That will really help to give you a better understanding of this method. ;)

Pepakura is a PC only program. Macs won't run it, unless you're running bootcamp, or something similar.

Thank you Robo for saying the name of the program (it was bothering me that I couldn't remember it!!). There is also Parallels Workstation and Virtual PC, but I've heard the Bootcamp is by far the best, and it's free.

You may find this article helpful Mr. Tuna.

(Edit: If you do download and use Bootcamp be very deliberate and careful in your installation and follow Apple's instructions to a T! Wouldn't want you to mess up your machine.)

yeah welcome to the 405th buddy!

cardstock is waaaay easier to use than cardboard, but when youre done with the pep piece, you can follow the stickies and use advanced stuffs like fiberglass or......use cardboard to back the inside up!

Stickies are your friend. Go to the pepakura forum and read, read, READ!!!
