This is a collection of all the tips and tricks I have found around the internet. There are many points here for helping you to get connected and keep connected.

This is a culmination of all that stuff for you guys to use as well

1. BT Connection - Bellwire

This only applies for BT Connections, but may be useful for other providers.

Basically, old phones use dodgy wiring in your home - this is called a "bellwire."

This bellwire picks up interference and can create the "Connection Interrupted" Error on COD Games.

A simple way to improve your connection is to remove this, as it picks up radio frequencies from cordless phones and microwaves etc…

To remove it, you have to either snip it yourself - this is entirely legal from BT’s point of view, or install one of their i-Plates as an alternative. Although, the i-Plate’s don’t work as well as just removing it.

Be warned - an extension cable effectively puts the bellwire back in. You can remove the centre two pins to stop this happening.

Ensure you have the correct socket though!

Instructions for removing the Bellwire can be found here:

http://www.jarviser.co.uk/jarviser/bell ... shell.html

One guy doubled his connection doing this! It really works and from BT’s point of view is totally legal. I highly recommend doing this, even if it is the only thing you do from the guide! It will also help any other web enabled device!

2. Use a wired Connection

Really folks, its that simple. Using a wired connection or Cat5(ethernet) cable can make a huge difference. It cuts out interference from your roommate who is streaming Youtube and guarantees a connection. You console also connects to live faster when your Xbox isn’t connecting via wifi (and it cheaper than the adapter!) My 20m Cable cost me £15 - online you can get them for £4!

3. Open your Ports - PortForwarding

Your Xbox uses ports in the IP address to connect faster. Using your routers settings page you can let the Xbox through those ports to get a better connection. On Halo 3, Bungie calls ports NAT - if they tell you it is Strict or Moderate then you may notice an improvement when opening your ports.

Port forwarding guides for most routers can be found here:

http://portforward.com/english/applicat ... 0index.htm

You can also set your DMZ to enabled and put your Xbox 360’s IP address in the Box. This lets it by-pass the firewall in your router and speeds up your connection. Obviously, people can then hack your 360 for your… avatar. (?)

4. Direct modem connection

Microsoft actually don’t recommend putting your Xbox in a home network unless you use the media streaming capabilities.

It slows it down! You can connect directly through a modem to the internet. Plug you ethernet cable from the 360 to the modems router port and you’re away!

5. Use a Priotizing Router.

Some routers now offer a prioritizing system where your Xbox’s “packets” (the data it sends and receives) is given priority over other packets. This speeds up your connection and improves play.

A good example of this is D-Links GameFuel Routers. They are built for gaming and offer huge speed boosts. Unfortunately, they are more readily available in the USA than England though.

6. Buy a Good internet package!

If you live in an area that has good internet coverage, use it! Fiber optic is amazingly fast and offers great connections. Unfortunately, it is expensive and only covers a small part of the UK.

If you have the money, put Fiber optic in your house, to ports in your Gaming room/Living Room.

If you are serious about gaming, a good package is a must for lightning fast reactions.

7. Don’t Have Too Many Connections Active

If you are going to game, reduce the stress on your broadband by turning off computers/servers if possible. Can your torrents wait until later? Does youtube really need to be on?

If possible turn computers off or hibernate them to stop their bandwidth hogging.

Alliteratively, disable the wireless/turn airport off for the duration off your play.

8. Connect To the Master

Make sure your router/modem is connected to the master socket in your house. This reduces the lag caused by extension cables. The master socket is the one with a BT logo on it. As seen here:

I will add more to this guide as and when I find it. If you know off any more tricks to boost your broadband speeds for Xbox LIVE then please leave a comment and I will add it to the main article, giving you credit.

Good luck!
