I have always wanted to build one of these suite, but never knew where or how to get started. Thanks to JFcustom's FOAM files and easy to understand build tips, I think I have reasonably convinced myself that I could actually make my own suit.

After researching numerous sites and blogs about what material would be best, I finally decided to use 5 mm craft foam both for its ease of use and availability where I live.

So here goes . . .

First part, the helmet;

Again, this my first build and I have no idea what I am doing, so ANY helpful advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated!!!

Hiya and welcome! I've just moved this conversation over to the non-Halo builds. This is, as you know, a Halo site, but we do have a very active non-Halo costuming forum. I hope that you find the answers that you seek.

Please also visit the RPF if you haven't already. There's a REALLY large Ironman area there where I'm sure you're going to find lots of helpful information.

My two cents? As with anything new you're learning, take your time and don't get discouraged. Foam takes practice but it's a fun medium and if you allow yourself to enjoy the process it should be a great learning experience!

Having a problem getting the piece "rounded" to the center where the arc reactor goes. Contemplating adding some mountain folds down the center and at angle toward the shoulder to try and get the right curve. Updates to come . . .

Update on the chest plate;

I added the housing for the arc reactor and armor for the abs. I also made additional "mountain" folds on the back side to give the chest armor a more rounded and cone shape (to be more accurate tot he movie).

Future plans include adding a hose / line coming from the top mounted tank and run along the outside of the forearm.

Hi Dax, please try not to post in threads that have not been posted in longer than 3 weeks as it will push down current build threads in the queue. I would recommend sending the creator a private message. Or you can click the link he provided in his first post. On the page it links to I was able to find a download for a zip file that I can only assume would contain the pdo files within them. Good luck and happy building!
