Well I am a newbie to this and I can say my ability to scale correctly is still rusty. Thanks to Prince_Neo for the help with this helmet it was greatly appreciated. Here you will find pictures of the Build completed in the stages of resin and fiberglass. More to come as I get moving on this again.. Still need to secure the underside with more fiberglass and resin then start the bondo stage on top.

for a newbie, it looks very good, are you going to use hinges like i did with my recon helmet?
or will you make it completely apart and connect with velcro or something

How about rare earth magnets to keep it in place? That way it can easily be removed during a convention, and quickly snap back int place when someone wants a photo

i dont know if that will be strong enough, i used magnets on my chest piece (halo 3) and it comes loose when i breath, i changed that to some locks (like those on suitcases)

Thats for a chest piece. A helmet would behave slightly different, since there wont my expansive pressure from the inside, plus the moving piece sits in a way that gravity will actually keep it from falling off right away anyway, even if it did come loose. I don't personally have such a helmet, but I work with rare earth magnets on my Warhammer 40k models quite often, and without any pressure to push them apart, they're incredibly strong. I have a pair of 1/4 inch magnets on a tank that I have to firmly grip the two parts in order to pull them apart. I use Neodinium magnets from K&J Magnetics, personally.

Yes I plan to do a hinge once I get that far. Got some detail still to add to the helmet once bondo stages are complete. I will have more of an update when I get to work on this on my upcomming days off.
