Greetings all,

Long time lurker here. Figured I'd post my current ODST build before I redo a lot of it in preparation for the summer con season. The new build will be my own character. But for the first I was dying to do Mal Geffen from the Kilo 5 books (yes Im one of the few that liked them a lot :D).
Started things with a Tactonyx M6 and M7 kit. Gotta love em, lots of trimming, sanding, etc. Most important to me was learning how to fill resin imperfections and make it perfect. Great fun putting them together.

Once those guys were complete I got a Head Shot Props helmet finished that guy up and painted it as so. Really great exposure to using a Dremmel here and more exposure to the filling/cleaning up piece of working with resin.
Also took some old tac helmet padding and put it with the helmet itself.

Now for the main event. I was able to acquire a Sean Bradley ODST second hand. So I took it, cleaned it up, reinforced with resin, painted, added custom decals, and boom Mal Geffen :D. For the chest I went with the TAC vest route. Definitely like the ease of that, even created my own MOLLE system. That being said when I do MKII I might go with Sean's no tac vest option.

By no means an expert but always willing to help at least on the basic things with anyone who has questions. hope you guys like my build, upgrades for later are a Sean Bradley Dutch helmet, more pouches, an MA5D, a new paint job with weathering, cooling fans, and some good old grenades :). Can't wait to get more involved with the community here and continue learning this craft. Feet First!

It actually was not too bad. I took a clear visor and used Krylon Looking Glass spray paint to tint it. Comes out almost transparent.

do you have a picture of looking through the visor? i have thought about using the same thing but was never sure about it. It seemed like it would be too "foggy"

Unfortunately not as I am currently away from my suit right now. it can be foggy(ish) but I was able to navigate convention floors, stairs, etc with ease.

Great work bringing this build to life! (I'm a fan of Kilo-Five's ODSTs, so have no shame.) ;)

Nice build! excellent paint job by the way. How did you go about painting it? Looking forward to hearing more from you around the community.

Thanks!
For painting I first sanded all the pieces down (as you do). Then used a basic primer. Once the primer was done I added the gunmetal metallic paint. A few layers of that. Then taped off the areas I wanted the black and simply painted some black metallic there. The decals I just printed myself and added to the completed armor with some spray adhesive.

Bucs37DK Of course, I was referring to the method of which you painted it. Spray paint? brush? aerosol can?

Your armor is killer too nice work .... I wanted to do an odst as well but at the pace I'm going with my current build it'll be while.

Thanks all! I cant wait to redo it here in May and make it my own character, as well as adding many an upgrade. :)
