Man, I haven't been on this forum in ages, guess school got the better of me.
Anyways I'm back and looking to get going on a Halo 5 chief build. I'm using foam this time instead of cardboard, it's way easier as far as I've used it.
I have the knee pads, boots, hands, and part of the shins done, I'll post them once i get the photos downloaded.

Well, here they are! My work so far. More updates to come, I'm working on them shins now!

Phew haven't been on in a long time. Been busy with stuff all this month. Got about 5 hours of time to myself last night and I managed to finish up the shin pieces. Lmk what you think of them!

They look great man! Just a question, what thickness foam are you using? the standard 1/2" or 6mm? or another? Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of building?! lol

Yes l life is terrible I just want to huddle in my corner and build XD I use 6mm and 2mm, it's easier for me to bend and shape at least for these parts. Would you recommend thicker once I get to the torso and helmet?

I would use the thicker EVA for the chest because anything thiner than that then it would just bend and warp the use the thiner stuff to detail it. And the same goes for the helmet:thumbsup

Where oh where do you get these colored foams from!!!!! I've seen blue, green, red , pink and now white..........I only seem to find black.......they look great. If i may make a suggestion/comment. the area by the knee cap looks a bit jagged. When doing rounded cuts, make sure your blade is either new or freshly sharpened. It will give you a cleaner cut. And don't "saw" the blade or do multi layered cuts (cut part through and then go deeper w/ the next pass). Otherwise it loos great.

I got the foam at michael's, it was extremely cheap. Also yes I agree with you on the kneecap comment, my xacto blade was not the right tool for the job clearly, next time I'm using a boxcutter. For now I'll leave it and when I get to plasti dipping I'll have to sand it down.

Great work! I don't think I've seen thinner foam used parts before. Only for detail really. Now, I'm gonna have to try it. :)

You could dremill it smooth. easier and faster that sanding by hand.

That's true, I do have a dremel tool. I'll clean it up with that.

Well it has it's disadvantages haha. I'm using because as a highschool student I'm near broke and can't afford paying $50 for the thicker kind, i'd much rather pay 99c for a couple sheets. It's very flimsy and I'm worried it will end up ripping or breaking if I'm not careful with it, hopefully the plasti dip fixes that problem.

how are you doing you undersuit? i am making a spartan locke and i think that the undersuit is gonna suck, any ideas on what your going to do?

I've been putting the idea off for a long time because the truth is I have no idea... I'm probably going to make the detail from thin foamies and then just use a black morphsuit unless I find other suggestions. I'll be looking around, and let you know if I find anything.

It's been a while but I'm back. My armor is almost finished and I'll be posting photos here later today. Nice to be back!
