My Mac laptop broke and I was wondering if I should just return it and buy a PC? Can you please help me chose.

My personal favorite OS is linux.
I hate hate HATE MS Windows. It blows.
So I'd stick with Unix/Linux

i will never go back i love the mac os x theres nothing that can really beat it (the new vista is just a Mac OS X leopard)

If you want windows you can always use parallels then put ms xp on it (i just did it and it is really really nice the only thing you need is hight ram)

Zaso what kind of linux do you use? I have been going back and forth between a couple

I have three PCs and three Macs, my Brand new PC is only being used for vinyl cutting and pep....... otherwise my PCs and my Windows Server are collecting dust. Mac very nice!

PC FTW. Fiance is a MAC fan so it's a constant struggle in the house. MAC OSX is nice, but I like having the the control over my OS I get on my PC.

I just thought of this....it's actually a quite easy answer after Frost's answer that I didn't even think about. MC did choose a PC technically when Halo was in the works for Apple and Microsoft bought Bungie haha. So as I stated before ...PC FTW!

yeah only good thing about Windows is that everything comes for it
what OS you have? I'm recently got Ubuntu 7.10,and i love the GNOME desktop, it loads in like 3 seconds on my (old) machine, same cannot be said about windows :cautious:

Ive been running my 1.5GHz machine 24/7 and hasnt crashed once, im never using windows again :-X

depends on what our planning on using it for.

gaming= PC
media= Mac (leopard is killa!!!!)

i only like pc because its easy to mod and find parts for. if i had the money i would grab a mac in an instant

I'd say it depends on what kind of user you are.
  1. If you are a casual user (go on the internet, mess with some photos, watch some movies), then go with a Mac.
  2. If you want to do more than have a OS that looks nice, go with a PC or Linux.
  3. If you're an advanced user (power user, whatever), install all 3 of them on a custom built desktop PC (as I am doing :D)
I use a PC and Mac, so I'm not just saying "I've never used a Mac, therefore a PC is better."

Get a mac then use boot camp for any pc programs (like pepakura)
If pepakura was meant to be on a Mac, it would have been made for mac's too. It's much easier to have a PC running PC programs than for a mac to run leapord and XP/vista at the same time, and then have multiple system applications working your cpu to death.

dang how does it load in 3 sec my mac one take like 30 secs and i thought that was fast compared to my xp (around 3 min on my old machine)

Whats the difference between ubuntu and fedora?

It not that bad i have a 2.33GHz dual core and 2 gb

when i just run the os and firefox it like 3% CPU and 8% RAM (what my widget said) but when i run my both my os (xp and os x) it like 14% CPU and 63% RAM (XP and vista suck the life out of them)

the only think i would change is upgrade my ram form 2 to 4 which is like $150 (if you buy them other then the apple store)

If you're going to casually use a computer to browse the web, mess with photos or watch videos, wouldn't it be better to invest in a PC? I mean, Mac's are a complete rip-off. Half the specs for twice the price. All you're really paying for is some fancy looks. And you can't really upgrade or customize it. People say windows crash a lot more than OSX? I've heard of people saying their Mac's crashed 6 times in 3 hours.

Your best bet would be a PC.

That's an ignorant statement. Have you really not heard of or used Parallels?
