Yep the AssaultRifle. When I'm done I'll give the file to whoever want's to unwrap it in pep.

If one's been made already, Oh well I'm using this as practice anyway.

Wip, wip, wip...Blender.

Looks great so far. I've seen many great models of the Ma5 so far and hopefully, by the looks of where your going, this is gonna be one of those great models. If u need an unfolder, I will do it gladly.

So far so good trooper!!!

Keep it up!!

Try not to add too much detail. It will be easier to add them in later with some bondo and a dremel.

Thank you.

For this model I decided to pull out all the stops and make it reeeaaal nice.

@ACD, Yeah I know but I'm trying to make it so you don't have to Bondo it for details.

u can like acdcrockr said, put less detail into it but I seem to like a LOT of detail better. Pep weps aren't really good with bondo so fiberglass and cardboard are the best ways to strengthen.

Yeah, i second the notion for as much detail as possible. I tried bondoing my pistol after resining it and realized its easier just to do multiple smooooth coats of resin. Keep up the good work

Yeah thanks for the feedback guys. I had the front part made and didn't like it so now I'm remaking it.

Edit: Pic of what I have now.

Yeah, I feel like I have more control over it. I still need to go on youtube and watch how pro's make there models.( I'm sure there are some videos) Too bad that there's no way to make face's in mass numbers.

I know about extruding and stuff, I was talking about having to select four and make a face and then move to the next four make a face Etc.. And what do you mean unused verts?

When I'm done I'll go through and clean out all the unnecessary vertice's .

Some progress.

Blender has a handy mirror tool that well, mirror's it without actually making the mirrored side an object.

I'm planing to redo the top left piece with 1000(Not really 1000)squares to a fewer amount of squares.

Very good!!! I will definately build this! I would like to unfold this to have my name on the awsome ness but do not have a paid version of the pepakura);

Hey you really probably need to rethink the geometry on the top part of the AR. For the most part the rest looks good, but if you look at this picture

you can see that it deforms weird at the top and makes a giant grid.

Try simplifying your geometry more. I made a little sketch of what you could try. Good luck with this and a great start on your first 3d model.

You want to know how the pros do it, you start with a box. :)

And yeah, you're doing a lot more work on this model than needed. Almost as if you're starting a finished piece. Instead of blocking it out, creating a basic shape, then adding details.

At least that's how I model.
