So, I was looking for a way to store my armor in one place, and I figured, heck, I'll get a manequin, then I can stand it in a corner and it will double as an armor stand/master chief statue. Problem is now I have a huge red team member chilling in my house, and everytime I forget about it (I'm very forgetfull) it scares the crap outa me. Plus it's just kind of eerie seeing your armor standing by itself and staring you down.. Since no skin shows it looks real.. Anyone else tried this and been creeped out?

I don't have a full mannequin but I have a head scared me for awhile but then I made a Hitler mustache on it now it looks funny except the other one I bought is creepy and undecorated.

LOL You know how much a Hitler Mannequin would go for on Ebay?

well, it turns out that a lifesized replica of me in my armor might have some unexpected benefits. Turns out it has a pretty good effect on unsuspecting people when it's hanging out where it's not supposed to be.. My roomates gonna get a hell of a shock when he opens his bedroom door tomorrow. Also thinking about putting it passed out in my bed surrounded by beer bottles.. and yes that does involve a real life story, but I'm sure you can figure that out. I'll see if I can get a video, but video cameras tend to take away the element of suprise in a heart beat.

ya my grandparents have a mannequin in their basement that looks almost real, it scares the crap out of me every time i see it.

but I think one with mjolnir armor on it would be cool, not creepy, seeing as it wouldn't have any face.

I kinda like the feelin of havin the creeps Its kinda fun. I wish i had one to do the same. But my armor build is on hold.I'll post somethin later

heh, it scared the hell outa my bro, he was coming to visit and I was away.. so no cars in the house, he opened my door and it was staring right at him.. I'd hoped it'd work. Btw my new avatar/profile pic is the manequin.. its easier to take pictures when your not in the costume..

yeah, sorry for the double post (even though it's been a long time and making a new thread would of been dumber), I just figured I'd say something because it made me laugh so much. Had a wild party at my house last night and I can't enjoy the party if I'm constantly looking for people "messing around" in my house. I left the chief manequin (now named fred) to guard the upstairs sitting room (room I have the most problems with), stuck him in a corner in the dark.. (the room has no lights in it). He scared the heck outa so many people, all I can say is he makes a great guard and saved me a lot of trouble. I need to get him a motor or something so he can move his arms.

Add a motion sensor that triggers random quotes from whatever. Someone walks in, and he says "I need a weapon", "I am your father", "Say hello to my little friend!", etc. :D :D :D

I shall do that when I have a suit. :D

I plan on doing this also. Where did you get your mannequin and how much did you spend on it.

I can't remember exactly, It was off one of the first internet sites I found, was under 100$, but only barely, he's like 5'6 without a head (I found the heads wayy to creepy, mine works with a ghetto one I made that doesn't scare me as much, it's actualy a towel stuffed in part of a mountain dew bottle). With the helmet on he's just a little shorter then me, probably 6-2 to 6-3.

And yeah I definately need a voice recorder with motion senser to scare people off.. Just as they get close to see if it's actually real it could yell at them and turn it's LEDs on.. Man that would be funny.

Haha- I'd love doing that! Now I'm considering making a normal(er) halo suit. I'm waiting on the temperature to order my stuff. I was planning on making the recon helm (that's it) but now I'd like to make a blue team guy. So expensive though- well, if it looks anywhere near decent. Maybe I'll just get a helm and see how much I like it. Plus I've still got like a foot of growth to go- I think I'll hold off (for another year :D) 'Halo 64!' Oh god I'm just rambling on. Whatever.

Oh also, you should get some screens of the mannequin- potentially a video of scares? Maybe you could do a motion-activated mini camera like the one in this helmet. :)

Yeah I'll take some pictures, I havn't yet because my bad quality self made wristguards don't fit, and the legs and shins look bad... But thats him in my avatar photo.. I was tryng to think how I could video the scares (always hard to suprise people when you have a camera). But a visor mounted one could be sweet. You wouldn't see much though, probably two people snuggling on my fricken couch in the dark, then all of a sudden one of them is like WHAT THE HECK IS THAT as their eyes adjust, and they promptly leave the room.. oftentimes in a rush... although motion activated LED's and movement might make it a little more enjoyable.

kind of off topic, but...

im getting a mannequin to load up with my airsoft gear... ill have a soldier with an m4 in my room lol

why dont you guys just make your own manequins? thats what i plan on doing once i finish my armor. although i currently have my sisters old sewing manequin, but its not like a regular one, its only a torso :/
but you can make one your size, with packing tape.

That method takes a lot of time, and you need to have it cut by somebody you trust. :p You end up naked, y'know.

yup, and since you can get good manequins for under 100 bucks, which is what I value the cost of making one, factoring my time in with materials, plus humiliation.. I'd rather buy one.. It's very sturdy and lifelike too.. plus it can move a bit and comes apart easy (really handy to be able to pull the hands off when putting gloves on em.
