Well, I put a program called wings3d onto my pc about ten months ago, but never used it until just recently. My math class is extremely boring, so I sketch stuff up in my note book while the professor is talking. I recently skecthed up a pretty cool Submarine and really wanted to see it in 3d.
So yesterday, I opened up Wings3d and played around with the controls for about thirty minutes, then I started to model. After about six hours, I came up with this!

She is a fictional CV/SS (Carrier Submarine) that I thought up, called the Asuka (Ah-ska) class. Thanks ragtagsoldier for putting it in max ad getting pictures for me. :)
She has about twelve or fourteen objects. The bow (front) of the ship has the runway, but the pictures has the doors covering the runway. I also put the hanger dors up like they would be if she was submerged.
What do you guys think? Good first model?

(P.S. I have a higher polly model, but I thought that this was good enough)

P.S.S. I taught myself all of this. Any advice from modelers who actually learned at a school or read tutorials? I tried to read the tutorials on the website, but I was confused.

Well, I will then. Looks awesome Raz. It's very good for a first attempt, in my opinion. I, myself, am not a free form modeler, but this looks very good.

The only complaint I have is the pictures have way to much contrast. It's hard to make out some of the features on the model with all that white in the background and no lighting on the model. It's an easy fix though, just mess around with your rendering and light settings. Try and find something that's a little easier on the eyes. It could just be my monitor. Give it whirl though, and I think you'll be pleased with the result.

Keep it up.

For a first model, that's very good. I've never really been able to do freeform well.

Thanks. :) Actually, ragtagsoldier took the photos for me. My laptop only has a chipset, and I was working the model blindly. I was going by my sketch though. So, since I couldn't actually see the model, I ask him to take pictures for me.

Thanks. :) I'm really hooked on it. (Free modeling that is.) I love it.

wow thats rlly kool, i wonder if my first model will turn out this good :D

it is kinda hard to see much detail with that bright background =/

not a bad start at all, its always a good idea when you're asking for opinions on a model to put up some wireframes, help everyone see whats happening. good job though

Sweet! Another self-taught free-from modeler using Wings!

That's really good for your first 3d model. And the design itself looks sweet too.
