My Mark Vi Mix And Match Suit

Hey all. I'm going to my first convention this year, which will be AKON in Dallas. I'm currently making a mark VI suit and am making 3 helmets, 2 chest add-ons and weapons so that I will have a different suit to wear for the 3 days of the convention. I have been working on the chest, adding in the details right now, so it should be to my satisfaction faily soon. Just looking for some good padding that I will approve of. Well, here are some pics of the chest progress so far. Please note that it is not finished and I am not making it completely game accurate. I am going for an 80's gijoe look, color and feel wise.

If anyone was wondering why I dont have the ab plate, its because it warped way too much to be used, so I have to print out a new one later on. I think I have a pic of it somewhere, I just have to check.Any comments are welcome.

I'm a small guy, so I might have to re-pep some of the pieces. So here are some pics of a few of the pieces I tried on. The Biceps are definantly too big.

I know these dont have anything to do with the scout helmet, but I didnt want to waste space by starting a new topic. I might when I actually start the glassing process.

You could always just be a spartan with ridiculously beefy arms.



At least the chest/helmet look like they fit right. Those are the most time consuming to pep afterall.



Looks really nice though. It's cool to see someone building the scout helmet. It wasn't really ever my favorite perm but yours looks really good.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm not too much of a fan of the helmet either. Like I said, I'm making it for my brother for Christmas because it is his favorite. I'm going to have it finished by tonight minus the visor. I was thinking instead of buying an HJC gold visor, just getting a weedeating faceshield and using gold window tint that I saw. We will just have to see. Thanks for all the feedback!

I was actually planning on making a scout helmet since I never see them here. Oddly enough mine would have been the same color given my armor's color scheme. Work looks solid so far, keep it up.

*UPDATE*

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their compliments, it really means alot. I did some more work to the helmet last night but didnt get to do much due to the fact that I promised to cook dinner last night for my GF and daughter so that was priority. I'm not too happy with the right side of the helmet right now. I was trying to go for a burned look but when I was spraying the paitn my dogs were wrestling and bumped me and I sprayed way too close. I might be able to do something with it. I will just tell my brother that it is heavily battle damaged and has spent too much time on a ghost. Maybe I should splat some bugs on it? Hmmmmmm. Well, here is some pics. Visor still to come.

Well, I decided to go ahead and make a Hayabusa suit. I want to try and make it to where I can just put the add ons with magnets, that way I can just take the busa parts off and switch the suit to a MC suit. I hope it goes as I have it planned. Here is some pics of what I have so far. Cold weather sure does limit what I can do right now, so this might be a slow process.

I am currently pepping the shoulders and helmet. I hope to be done with them by this weekend. It is hard to juggle work, family and projects, but it can and WILL be done. I hope to have it finished by june for A-Kon. I have my fingers crossed!I thought I would also throw in some pics of my modified Slade helmet from the New Teen Titans. I ride a bike(as in bicycle) to and from work and the weather isnt always the best here in south Texas and I wanted to make a helmet I could wear to keep my face and head out of the elements. I know it is not bondoed and is a little rough for my standards, but, It works great and I can always finish it later on. Heres some pics.

That is a mirror I mounted on the side with magnets, I can put it where ever I want it. And it works fantastic!

Wow, I guess I should start a new topic or something. I was going to post more pics, but I guess I will just wait on that. I'm still new to the whole "forum" thing, so I apologize up front for my postings. Oh, I finally recieved my visors that I ordered on ebay for 4.95 a piece. They arent exactly what I was looking for, but at least they are cheap enough that I have room for error. I dont have a pic of them, but I will post some tomorrow. Now I just have to wait for some good weather. Rain, Rain , go away.........

Visors? $5.00? PLEASE give me a link! They might be useful... My only point is don't think that helmet will protect your cranium if you fall. To block stuff though, effective. But you might get a few stares... cool anyway though
