sculpey is pretty fragile. no better than plaster I'd say. Yes it cures with heat. You have to bake it at something like 275 or 300 degrees for 15 minutes per 1/4th or 1/2 inch thickness. It burns easily, doesn't really sand well, and on the whole there's much better polymer clays out there. Also, if not baked properly, it becomes extremely crumbly.

which I swear by. The epoxy putties will be equally or more durable than bondo. They can be used for smoothing pieces out same as bondo, the only problem being that they are way more expensive.
