This 50 dollar nerf gun looks like the Turret from Halo 3. I just got one and with a little bondo it could turn out perfect. It even comes with a bipod that is about half a foot tall. The bipod is awesome (sarcasm). In serious terms it acually fire fully automatic. Im thinking someone could use this. The only con is that You have to put it together and the bipod sucks. Other than that its 50 dollars and is awesome. It runs on batterys though.

1. It's $40, so you got ripped off.

2. It is tiny and extremely weighty with the batteries put in.

3. Halo isn't the origin of tripod-mounted turrets. They've been around for decades. Also, it's TRIPOD, seeing as it has 3 legs, and BIPOD meaning 2.

4. If it is part of a costume, and the user wants to shoot and reload it, then they will have to take more than 30 seconds of tedious care to not drop it, accompanied with the fact that the bullets and ammo belts commonly jam when shooting on automatic.

5. To get this thing looking remotely like a Halo turret, you'll have to put a handle somewhere else, remove the one in place, and add some side panels that will end up colliding with your legs while you walk. If anything, it's would make a good Covenant turret, but not a human turret by any means unless you wimped on the sides, which would make it look terribly irrecognizable.

Repainting this thing will be a pain in the ass anyways, so I don't see any reason to mess with it besides removing the air restrictor and powering up the spring. Perhaps a repaint could be done, but putting the internals back in perfectly is practically impossible, even more so if you plan to modify the outer casing beyond cardboard or, in the Covenant case, glass add ons or a bit of sanding on the logos.

Also, the shoulder strap is useless to anyone over the age of ten, for the most part. Or anyone over 5' 2", whichever you want count.

EDIT:

I'm not saying the gun sucks, I'm saying that modifying it is pretty impractical compared to, say, a Longshot, since this is thrice as heavy and has lots of hard-to-remove parts, such as the handle.

The tripod is okay, but it makes far too much noise, so an improvement is necessary to be any less annoying. It also must be completely removed if carrying the gun is a plan of yours, since you don't need any extra weight while wearing a suit of fiberglass armor.

The fire rate is amazing for a toy, though, and it is easily held like the turret in Halo 3 if you dismount it from the tripod. Sadly, it is awkward to hold in such a fashion, and the thing's weight makes it inconvenient to hold for more than a few minutes.

The belts also piss you off if you don't have them in the box, because the flop and clang around like crazy, and the noise can be extremely irritating to say the least.

That's my overall criticism of the gun and ideas of modifying the outside. If you want to go at it with Bondo, be my guest, but don't say I didn't warn you when it makes your hands go numb, and makes unimaginable noise from the belt moving around.
