You still have to have the disc in the system to play the game though... ;)
Hmm, that seems a bit pointless... I guess it makes it load faster or something?

If you don't like it, don't bother creating it.
I wish I knew I didn't have to back when I was fooling around with it.

Download & Install was pretty fast compared to the PS3's updates (didn't mean to flame)

I thought the Avatars were okay. I think it could had been better. It just looked to much like the Miis with an actual body lol. It could had looked more realistic, not too realistic like PS3's Home but like the Sims (Cartoony Realistic, I would had been happy with that) I think they need more options especially the shirts, their weren't enough to choose! I'm betting they will make you pay for more avatar stuff which I wouldn't be surprised from the greedy M$. If they make a MC costume, I'd get that :D

I'm guessing since the release of the NXE and many people were on but I wasn't able to go on a few stuff like Themes. Also, where can I find to change my theme?! Looking everywhere. >.>
Interface looks nice and seems more organized. The Guide menu sure pops up faster and look better than the other one IMO.

I'll try out more stuff later...

What annoyed me was that you had to have your disc inside for the game to work if you had it on the HDD. I know it was for that no one would be able to rent games then put it on their HDD and repeat. I could've thought of a better idea. Like put a special code onto the disc that once it is put into the console, it knows that it's yours. The code will be put into your Gamertag so it remembers that specific disc code, just in case you had to replace your Xbox 360 and wanted to re-download. The game would only work once at a time so if you recovered your gamertag at your friends house and saved the game onto his HDD. The game on your console would be unusable. For those discs that don't have the new codes would end up like what we have now on the NXE and new games would have the codes. For rented game stores (Netflix, Blockbuster, etc...) would have exclusive game discs that don't have the codes or restrictions to be unable to save it on a HDD. All of this would take money to do but I bet M$ can compensate to it.

I don't think the new dahboard is as organized as the old one. It was esier to get to the stuff you want.

And load times for the Marketplace are insane.

Supposedly its just there so your laser doesn't get used as much, so the disc doesn't take as much punishment or some such. I agree with you, it is kindof a pointless feature unless you play for days on end...

Someone on another board mentioned something about the feature being useless until somebody created a dummy disc to get around it, LOL. The sad this is I can see it happening too.

DO NOT STORE Halo 3 on your HDD!!!

It slows everyone on Matchmaking.

Seems less organized. Also, I tried taking a look at the Marketplace, and I nearly fell asleep waiting for it to load.

agreed, it wouldnt and still hasnt loaded for me, :*(. and yes, DO NOT INSTALL HALO 3 TO YOUR HARD DRIVE!!!! BUNGIE WILL LAUGH AT YOU. sorry for the all caps, just saving some people who didn't read the whole thread. but yeah, it slows matchmaking, makes loading times longer, and your friends will laugh at you-Bungie :p

I was just messing with my avatar and got a good laugh at what happens when you mess with the controls for his head. You get different reactions for nodding, shaking your head and moving your head in a circle.

I'm easily amused... :D

That's a really good idea. I'm pretty sure I could find torrents of cd cracks... of course I would never steal anything from a multibillion dollar company.

Epic picture is epic.

I've browsed through the new dash and I must say I hate it. Now, hate is a strong word but it accurately describes my feelings for the new dash.

anyone going to dl the Halowars theme that was released, as for the avatars, they were never really a wii thing to begin,

in the video game industry, any character you took control of was your avatar, these are now just customized,

but i do like it alot,

halowars theme

I really like the new theme. Sure it will take some getting used to (it took me forever to figure out the old marketplace and get to any console settings) but I do like the new photographic style. Everything appears with a picture representing it!! Games, movies, you name it. This new style gives you more easily accessible features and putting games on the harddrive....sweet! No more disc noise!

the whole thing of installing the game is to make loadtimes faster and also since it's reading from the HDD and not the disc it creates much less heat, which makes it much more quite and greatly decreases the chance of RROD

and Halo 3 is so far the only known game to actually increase the loadtimes since it uses a different way of loading it. I hope that may be fixed in a patch, if it can be fixed at all

I haven't had a chance to mess around with it yet. Just dl'd it before work last night. Did play with the avatar a little. They are much better than what the Wii has. It's different so it will take some getting used to.

Ok a few problems I've had since using it. After checking a party's details and hitting the 'B' button to back out, the system freezes. Had a game freeze too when it wasn't even that active of a scene. The game was installed to the Hard Drive though.

Also, they never said you couldn't join a party with only a silver account. Jerks, I thought I'd at least be able to party up with people and talk even though I can't play any multiplayer.

Yeah, I noticed the freeze issue too. Hope that gets fixed soon or I'll start throwing stuff the next time it happens.

I am loving the new dash and features. The avatars are nice, a lot better than the miis, and M$ is planning on releasing new clothes for the avatars every two weeks. I downloaded Fallout 3 to the hard drive and I have yet to freeze (I was freezing almost every play through before) and the loading times have been halved. Now I gotta get some points so I can get the Halo 3 premium theme, apparently you can mess with the vehicles with your avatar. With my slow connection the entire dash seems to take up less internet resources wen connected, so Im happy with that. All in all I say A+!

If that thing about the Halo premium thing is true, I'm going to get that right now. I was thinking about getting it anyway, but that settles it.
