This will be a thread full of Halo props, I crocheted because I’m full of stupid ideas and got to much freetime <3

It started last year, when my crocheting addiction started.
I was bored during a lecture and googled if there were any Halo related crochet patterns.

Big mistake.

I found a pattern for plasma grenades, altered it to a bigger size so it was a bit more throwable… and made many of them :D
Until my local yarn store didn’t restock the blue yarn I used for the main body :‘)

The grenades got doggo approved and are really great to throw at people. Also good anti-Stress toys to knead if needed.

might make a bunch more as soon as I can get more of the blue yarn.

But then, one day, a friend send me a link to a crocheting pattern which correlated to the biggest and stupidest crochet project so far, which I also just finished. (And Masky suggested to share it with you all, so here we are :D )

Since I played Hatoful Boyfriend, pigeons got a weird place in my heart. It became a huge running gag and everyone keeps sending me pigeon memes.

And then I saw the pigeons on the ATMs in the Streets map of Halo Infinite…. (there were also some pigeon stickers somewhere, I’m glad I didn’t took any screenshots of those yet, might end up in another stupid crocheting project)
and I had a crochet pattern for a regular pigeon/dove….

So I made the ATM pigeon. And I don’t even regret it. Used some wire for legs, improvised helmet and vest, I just didn’t had any yellow beads for the eyes, so I used some different ones.

It still needs a name, I’m open for suggestions!

And thank god, no one suggested to me to make a Halo 3 rat, so lil pigey has a friend, right?

RIGHT???

Next Halo crochet prop projects:

- Halo 3 rat
- two sticks and a rock

Also open for more stupid suggestions, you may have noticed that I love stupid ideas.

I would be open to some halo crotchet patterns. I am also a crocheter and have done a lot of Star wars stuff and I'm doing some marvel now so I would love to add halo to my collection.

For the grenades I used this pattern:

I just made a few more rows to make it bigger! The smaller grenade in my first photo here was the one I made following this pattern.

I’m gonna write some patterns down when I’m making new stuff!

Update on the Pigeon!
i made a post about it on reddit and someone send it to the actual environment artist that designed all the pigeons on "Streets"! and he shared it on twitter! never thought my stupid idea would come out so awesome :')
maybe i offered him to make him another one as a gift :)

While I’m preparing a new post with a full pattern for my latest project, I remembered that I didn’t showed you the second ATM pigeon I made for Ivan Yakushev (the original designer of the Streets map pigeons)

Sad thing is, I can’t send him the pigeon since he’s living in Russia and due to the current situation, I’m way to scared that the package will get lost, since the german postoffices won’t deliver. So the pigeon waits for calmer times for its big journey.

(additional pigeon group pic with all the pigeons I made so far, don’t ask, don’t play Hatuful Boyfriend if you’re not ready to get a new concept of pigeons)

Halo 3 Rat (and a small traffic cone hat for it)

_MG_9206.JPG

I wrote a pattern for everyone who has a crochet hook, too much free time and the unbearable urge to have their own Halo 3 rat!

I attached a YouTube link to every stitch used so you should be able to make one by yourself if you never crocheted before (at least I hope it’s understandable, please tell me, if somethings unclear or you need help at some part!)

Let‘s get started!

things you need:

- Yarn ( I used "Light/DK" weighted yarn, just something i had laying around. you can use other yarn, your rat may become bigger or smaller depending on your yarn
- crochet hook (I used 3 mm / D sized hook, this depends on your yarn)
- stuffing
- safety eyes / beads as eyes
- scissors, tapestry needle
- something to mark your rounds so you don’t get confused

Used terms (US terms):

- Rnd = Round
- st = stitch
- slip knot
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet ( Tutorial for slip knot, chain and Single crochet)
- hdc = Half Double Crochet
- sc2tog = Single crochet two together / Decrease

Head, Body and Tail

Rnd 1: 2ch, crochet 1hdc and 4sc in second ch from hook ( OR make a Magic Ring and crochet 1hdc and 4sc in it)

Rnd 2: 2hdc in next st, 4sc to end of round (6) (<- this number tells you how many stitches you made this round)

Rnd 3: *2sc in next st, 1sc* repeat 3 times (9)

Rnd 4: 4sc, 1sc the next two stitches - using using Front Loops Only, 3sc (9)
(the 2 st through the front loops shape the tip of the nose a little bit)

Rnd 5: *2sc in next st, 2sc* repeat 3 times (12)

(Rnd 6: sc around - Optional round, makes the nose a bit longer)
26E19BAD-FB3C-49C8-8C50-A2A1709BF71E.jpeg

Rnd 7: *2sc in next st, 3 sc* repeat 3 times (15)

Rnd 8: sc around (15)

Rnd 9: *2sc in next st, 4 sc* repeat 3 times (18)

Rnd 10: sc around (18)

Rnd 11: *2sc in next st, 5sc* repeat 3 times (21)

Rnd 12: sc around (21)

Rnd 13: 10hdc, 11sc (21) (those steps make a round forehead and a flat chin/tummy)

Rnd 14: *2sc in next st, 6sc* repeat 3 times (24)

Rnd 15: 12hdc, 12sc (24)

-> Attach the eyes around Rnd 11 / 12, ~6 stitches apart. If you use so called “safety eyes” please make sure that they’re actually safe! I usually melt the end with a lighter, so they can’t get off that easily.

Rnd 24 - 33: sc around (36 stitches each)

-> stuff it a bit more!

EAB66877-735E-4EBD-899C-6C929E2C30FC.jpeg
your tail longer, feel free to make more rounds!)

Rnd 56: sc in 3rd stitch and Fasten off and weave the end

Congrats! Now you have something, that looks like something that could be a rat someday!

Or just a potato with tail and eyes.

Now to the other parts!

Ears

Make 2 of them!

- 3ch and crochet 7hdc in 3rd ch from the hook (means the first ch you made!)

- fasten off, pull long end through first hdc you made to form a “sharper ears shape”
E60381D4-E970-40FC-812F-B851C07B096E.jpeg

- leave Long end to sew ear on rat

Front legs
Make 2 of them!

Rnd 1: slip knot, 2ch, 6ch in 2nd chain from the hook (like the first one you made)

Rnd 2- 4: sc around (6st each)

Rnd 5: *2sc in next st, 1sc* repeat 3 times (9)

Rnd 6: sc around

- Now we’re working in rows!
-> 1ch, turn, 5sc
-> 1ch, turn, Sc2tog, sc, sc2tog
-> 1ch, turn, 3sc
-> fasten off, leave long end for sewing

Back legs
Also make 2 of them!

Rnd 1: slip knot, 2ch, 6ch in 2nd chain from the hook (like the first one you made)

Rnd 2: sc around (6)
Rnd 3: *2sc in next st, 1sc* repeat 3 times (9)

Rnd 4: *2sc in next st, 2sc* repeat 3 times (12)

- Working in Rows:
-> 1ch, turn, 7sc
-> 1ch, turn, sc2tog, 3sc, sc2tog
-> 1ch, turn, 5sc
-> 1ch, turn, sc2tog, 1sc, sc2tog
-> 1ch, turn, 3sc
-> fasten off, leave long end for sewing

Finishing!

Take your needle and sew on the loose parts!
Place them, where it “feels right” xD
You can put a bit of stuffing into the legs, but I didn’t, since my ends from the slip knot are usually long enough to fill most of the leg.

Congrats! Now you have your own Halo 3 rat!

This pattern was free-handed in a couple of minutes, it’s not great, but funny xD

Make 3 Sides:
7BD4D26A-1B13-4601-8457-0825D6AF26BB.jpeg

- slip knot, 8ch

- turn, 7sc starting from the 2nd ch from hook

- 1ch, turn, sc2tog, 3sc, sc2tog

- 1ch, turn, sc2tog, 1sc, sc2tog

- 1ch, turn, 3sc

- 1ch, turn, sc2tog Only using the first and the last st! We’re skipping the one in the middle!

- 1ch, turn, 1sc

- fasten off, use long end to sew the triangles together

For the rim, knot your yarn on one edge, crochet 1 ch and crochet in single crochets around, make 2sc per edge
For a second Round make a slip stitch in the first sc you made, 1 ch and sc around, making 3sc in the edges

Fasten off and weave the end!

And now it’s a hat!

I hope you like it as much as I am! The little guy here lives at 247District place now, since i made the lil rat as a birthday present for him. <3

And if you made your own rat (or found some other Halo related crochet projects) pleaaaaase show me!

Thank you SO MUCH for these patterns! I crocheted a silly Mangler on a build stream not too long ago - I'll try to find a picture.
