Well I couldn't put this in the 405th discussion because I don't have enough posts but I have an idea, call the noob forum the newb forum. Noob is more of an insult and newb is used to describe new players, newbies. So I think it should be called the newb forum.

EDIT:I have to go so ill be back to see replies later.

Noob isnt an insult, when you call someone noob it is, but I think we can all agree when someone is new to armor making, they are a noob at it. But there are certain individuals who already have skills for armor making ,but join and are endowed to be a noob unless a moderator gives them special rights to post in other forum areas.

no... they are NOOBS.. stick with the forums for a couple months, and you'll see what we mean.

Noob:

-can't read before posting
-ask questions that have been asked 500 times
-want armor without working for it
-have no jobs, pretend to have $ to buy armor, but can't
-try to get REALLY good armor for almost no $
-criticize others armor for "sucking" but have no skill to make their own
-ask for 'blueprints' on how to make their own armor
-say things like "i want to make the absolute best armor, but with little money, can you help"
-do things to piss me off

The last time I said the same exact thing, everyone got angry at me and had fun with the rating button in my profile. I agree with you 100% adam, you yourself show how much work and money you put into your suit, you cant have a good suit unless you work for it, and many people are showing they dont want to work for armor, they just want armor.

This is esp true with some of the new exposure 405th gets, most of them leave as quick as they get here, so better to gunk up the noob forum. I was a noob not too long ago, and you know everyone here is really nice, you just have to be respectful, no one was nasty to me.

Classic. I almost feel like putting that on a T-shirt.

But yeah, if all n00bs were really just rational hardworking newbies, the Noob forum would of never had to be created.

We need sean bradley shirts with his signature quote, and adam's current quote, they would sell.

Remember in the molded/pep forums, people used to ask "what is resin, where do I buy clay? How do I scultp, where can I buy kits?"

I guess thats why we have a noob forum.

Not all people are like that though so don't call everyone in the noob forums noobs k?Some of them actually do make some nice armor.Im just saying that since you cant start a topic anywhere else until 50 posts it shouldn't be called the noob forum. Just because you can't start topics anywhere else doesn't mean your a noob.

Ah, the good old days of chaos right before H3 came out. :p That's exactly why the noob forum was created.

Off topic- I always thought this would make a nice unofficial 405th shirt. It's the best looking Halo shirt I've seen and the back is blank so you can put type on it. I love the one I got. SHIRT

But that's why it was made, because the regular forums were getting too spammy with noobs doing everything adam listed. People who make great stuff and show it off here can get promoted before 50 posts and have topics moved to the regular forums so there is consideration in that respect.

I know some great people make great armor but cant post in other forums because they need 50 post, but we cant let everyone post anywhere with only a few post, we'd go straight back to he old days if we allowed everyone to make new topics anywhere in the forum.

For those who do good and have less than 50 post's, the blessing of the moderators will soon be upon them when their work has been seen, and the entire forum will be open to them, look at MLC, he is a pro at armor making, he had less than 50 post, but he was recognized, and now he post's away in the molded forum.

I don't mind being called a noob. Its kind of like F.N.G. every one is an F.N.G. until the next F.N.G. comes along. :D

So far everyone has been helpful and nice with me also. I am new to armor and prop making but not to posting on forums. I agree there are ways to behave well on forums. Do that and you'll be fine.

there are legitimate good noobs that I give access to the other parts of the site when I see that they arent NOOBISH. BishopX and Slavefive for instance, couple other guys who DID before they asked.

Basically, the noob forum is a holding pen for over eager noobs that I don't want polluting the rest of the forums too much.

Consider it a rite of passage :)

It's a place where bad posts often get weeded out so don't think of it as demoralizing or downtalking. Just understand we see a lot of ppl come here with more expectation than work ethic.

If you are a respectful person who is willing to read and research, you'll find plenty of praise and comradery :)

The only problem that I have with the Noob Forum (well, not exactly the forum itself) is that the only right of passage to get out of the Noob Forum is only the number of posts that one posts, instead of how long one has been a member. So, this causes many people (usually Noobs) to spam useless posts all over the forums, ie. double/triple posting, useless topics

BUT, that's just my opinion and certainly don't want anyone to think I'm trying to change the way this forum works.

I'd be happy to change it, if you'd be happy to program that script into the forums.

I dont know if this might help but couldn't you just purge the forums of unwanted and repeated topics?? That way any n00b (like me), doesn't keep on asking the same question that has been answered about 500 times.

We do that constantly, it really more an issue of people not reading enough before they want their questions answered.

Patience grasshoppers, keep reading and all will be revealed! Everything you need to know is here, but we want you to take the time , do the research and find it. Earn your armor, like everyone else did...
