Howdy all! Shep here and it's time for me to yell YEEHAW and lay out my plan, as per the noob instructional video (which I think is a cool idea btw).

I've been doing costuming now for over 13 years, starting with my custom Star Wars bounty hunter, which has evolved tons over time. Now, I do costuming not just for my community and to bring smiles to faces, but also for myself to deal with military related PTSD. It helps me see the good that still exists and has done wonders on helping me find friends, happiness and fun. Also, it helps with breaking my social anxiety :) Anywho, I've always looked up to the heroes of space since I was a kid, so you can imagine I love things like Star Wars, Mass Effect and Halo. I kind of got pigeon holed into the whole Mass Effect costuming as Commander Shepard because, well, I am about as socially 'talented' as Commander Shep and can't dance to save my life. Plus, with a shaved head and default painted armor, I somewhat look like "default" Shep. I've always loved Halo but told myself, due to all the detail in the costumes, that I would never do one until I felt that I could do it justice and wear it with pride. Then ODST came out. It hit really close to home with my military history. I wanted to make an ODST costume not just for myself, but to my fallen brothers in memory of them. But again, I said not until I could do it justice. I needed to get into shape both mentally and physically and think of the colors that best represent not just me but also them. And, I needed to decide which route armor wise I wanted to go.

Well, the day has finally came! I'm in the best shape I've been in years (mentally and physically), my skills are beyond what I expected (though I believe people can always learn more and should strive to!) and through some awesome people I know who also are into Halo and have done various Halo armors, I have sourced all the armor and helmet to go ODST! The plan is-

Wait for armor/helmet to get here (already got everything, just waiting for it to arrive in a few weeks or so)
Get the soft goods
Cut/trim/assemble everything
Paint it like a champ
Put it on
Have a blast
Yell PUH POW!!!

I will post more about color choice and such later on, as it's late. So, with that, I leave you a ton of pics of my other costumes I have and have done. I also have a Republic Commando (Delta Squad's Sev), but I didn't build that. I bought that from a friend who got that from a friend and so on, so it's been around the block a few times. Enjoy and I look forward to meeting alot of you!!!

Wow, you've got some awesomely cool builds, Kibiri Foxx! It seems you're not much of a noob at all!
It's great to read your backstory as well. I'll definitely be watching this thread, can't wait to see you get started!

Welcome, Helljumper. Just remember that Hood's Hellions are just south of you, so don't feel that you have to put everything together by yourself.

And yes, this is who you think it is.

Well whaddaya know... glad you found me bro poking around on here. You've personally seen my other stuff, so you know I wont half heart this project ;-)

UPDATE - JULY 8, 2013

So the very first part of my build arrived today. It is the first of many awesome things that will make my Helljumper a lil' piece of happiness for me.

Since every good Marine needs a good side arm for close quarters or those "unforeseen" sticky situations, I obtained this bad boy. Crafted by Branfuhr Studios, this cast pistol comes in a few different parts but just needs minor work to have it ready for paint (sand a few seems and trim a few parts to fit in). I am EXTREMELY pleased with it and was a good foot to get off on with it's detail. Progress pics to come! Until then, here's the pics of the raw cast I received today. (I included a pic of it next to my hand so you can see the shear size of this beast. Desert Eagle size!)

Thanks Mack! I love that armor to death and it's fun to wear (as I fall into character as Shep and am rather comical with it) That was actually my v1. Once this build is done, I'll be finishing my v3 of my ME2 armor :)

No problem man. It looks awesome. I gotta give some love for mass effect! I'm lookin forward to seeing the next build.

UPDATE - JULY 8, 2013

Got pretty far on this puppy today. Got it all sanded, trimmed, assembled and painted. All I need to do is clear coat it and finish/install the clip. I made it very worn as my overall theme is rather battle-worn. I also happily named my pistol "The Answer". Seemed fitting.

Assembled/Cleaned up-

My weathering technique that I do on all my stuff, which is a combination of layers and steel wool being used. So basically, actually weathering it-

Thank you so much Gokuss! This has seriously already been one of the most fun builds I've done in years. Once my armor parts arrive, then the BIG fun starts.

And Mack, if ya ever are at a con I'm at, you can meet the Answer. Not sure which end though ;-) I KID! I KID! LOL

Armor bits and such are being shipped out here shortly. All my soft goodies and such are already purchased. Once PAX and Salt Lake Comicon are done then building shall start!

Heya!

Life has been insane so haven't got to post on here as much as I would like, plus I've been working on my Hunter from Destiny. I did work on my bucket a bit though.

I love seeing different people's distress methods when it comes to painting. I'm waiting for the day I see someone just kick a piece around in the yard until it looks adequately stressed!
Your work looks great, love the N7! Looking forward to what you do next.

Thank you! I did post up my WIP for my Hunter from Destiny as well a bit ago ;-)

As for battle damage and stuff- I don't normally do the latex masking technique, but since there is a large amount of folks who did it with their halo gear that I know, I kept it uniform with theirs. I tend to do topical alot.

man i love your work, it looks amazing.

have you seen (da frontline trooper)'s weathering (he is not on the 405th but he has a youtube and facebook page) he just kind of drops it in mud.
