So I’m going to try something that has been started by many MANY cosplayers, but never really...fell through. If you don’t know what that is, then let me tell you that it’s the “H2A ODST” from the “MCC.” (Master Chief Collection)

So far I did a pretty decent job on starting a template.

Then did more work By scanning into my printer, resizing in my computer, printing it out and redetailing again.

I just need to transfer onto foam after work and I’ll let you guys know what the results are. But like I said, this is the project people have started but never really have finished. So any and all help is welcome.

So I have cut the template out onto foam after copying it onto 3 sheets. And this was the result.

So I saw this one bit where this piece bent at an angle. So I traced it onto the backside and made a 45 degree cut. I also made some scoring lines on the sides and the middle.

Sad to say, I might’ve cut a bit too deep. But this is the first draft.

Now the tricky part is going to be the little middle piece that goes on top. Mainly because i don’t want a lot of seems, so I divided a plan to get just that; cutting them apart, trail and error, match the foam to the updated templates, process should take me a couple of days.

Okay, so...good news, the process took a bit less than what I originally said it would take me to make a template. Now I wanted to make this post before I went to bed. I spent a good hour, just reshaping that bit you see on the last post; bending, cutting, reshaping, duplicating. LONG STORY SHORT, I FINALLY managed to creat a first draft template of that elevated piece. Here are the pieces that I had to work with.

And this was the result.

All in all...I’d say I’m doing decent. Now I just need to transfer this onto foam. Thinking about it now, I DO believe that because of its flexibility, anything lesser than 5mm might bend the piece a bit more than what I would want, but luckily I got the templates so I can test out the experiment tomorrow and let you guys know of the results. But as of right now, it’s late, I’m tired, I’m going to bed.

Okay, so I FINALLY managed to get some foam after many unsuccessful attempts to get them after work...I finally got 2mm foam. Unfortunately I don’t have the templates with me because I left them at another place, but I know where they are, so I don’t have to spend 2 days making a new template. Now I am focusing on the shins and I’m seeing a LOT of similarities between “H2A: ODST,” And “H3: ODST” shins.

Not to mention that the shins are complex in design. I will try an attempt to make the shins from the left, but if it is too far in my skill range, then I’ll make a variation of the one on the right...which shouldn’t be hard, because, like I said, they’re very similar. What do you guys think?

So after cutting the foam out including onto the base piece, I have come to the realization that the white foam has become too flimsy. 2 mm was way too thin. So I added some more foam onto the underside to give the white foam a bit more of a sturdiness feel.

Moving on to the knees and shins.

Made the first template for the knee. Just as worse on making the template as the top parts for the shoulder.

Dam, your free handing it, that's impressive man, stick with it! This is going to look cool!

Yup, it’s not that easy. The reason why I am free handing it is because there’s no pepakura file for it. And the reason for that is because each suit that you see that’s a pepakura file, is found in each game that has a code that has been cracked. And with this code, you get the model. But apparently the code for H2A hasn’t been cracked.

Well dam l, that sucks man, but you are willing and it looks good

It’s awesome that you’re going for an H2A build and taking on the challenge of scratch building. Looks like you’re doing great so far developing your templates and crafting them up.

Not all models used with pepakura are based on game asset data. Some are scratch modeled using reference photos just like one would sketch out a template. I like that you’re forging ahead with your project regardless of what is or isn’t available for help. Good luck continuing on!

But there is a silver lining: this is a REMASTERED version. Meaning that any and all content within the second game has been revamped and re-designed,But that also means that these designs came from somewhere before. There are files here that come from Halo 2 and some of the designs here are BASED in that game; The difference is that they just have a little bit more detail. So not everything is from scratch, only most of it.

Knees are done, will be focusing on shins next. And I have decided to use the “H3: ODST” as a base model. Did some scoring on the sharpi lines. Will see how it turns out after plasti-dip when that level arises.

Sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. Been kinda sick. Okay so here we go: I did part of the shins last weekend and found out that it was a bit small, so I’m gonna enlarge it. Not to mention because of the foam, it’s getting squished. So now I have to do this in 5mm.

Sorry I haven’t been posting for a while, been building this shin peice for about a week. Man, it’s so complex. Not to mention I had to do everything in levels so I wouldn’t mess this up.In one of the pics you’ll see each piece has a number, that is to tell me how many pieces I need because of the levels that it needs. More evidence of this is a pic that shows the backside of the front shin piece. And in one of the pictures, you’ll see the back of the calf has a few tabs, I am doing this because I’m trying to make sure that when I pack this up, it’ll take less space in the tote.

So this isn’t the final product, but mainly the first draft so I can improve upon the second build.

very nice!. all the builds. I wanna rip my armor apart and rebuild. You are doing one amazing solid job keep it up
