So, I've been doing a ridiculous amount of research into the Landfall ODSTs for the last several months, not too long after SKG started doing the modeling. I have finished several hand-drafted, orthographic style drawings of the armor. They are pretty close to being correctly scaled, I used many different methods to attempt to ensure proper proportions.

Pencil, ink and rulers relax me, AutoCad and Photoshop do not. That is why these were hand-drawn and not digital - to anyone who might wonder that.

Please do not repost these anywhere else. Comments are welcome, but if you feel you must make corrections to them, please PM me with changes that should be made and I will update the source drawings. And if you do feel that changes need to be made, please provide ample photo proof pointing out mistakes... I've got a quadrillion pictures that I used to make these that I took from the short films, so one low-res picture in the gallery alone probably won't be enough to change my mind.

The basic armor torso drawings are still incomplete, but I figured I'd post the WIPs because it shows the seams and the plates that need to be added onto the upper back. The arms are about as done as I have time for at the moment, though I might do a quick version to clarify a couple of things on them.

More are on the way as I get time for them, which is becoming more scarce by the day...
I will also compile the reference pictures I have that will relate to each of these drawings and post them in this thread, but that is a little ways off. Any questions anyone has about the WETA armor can be asked here and I'll try to answer as best as I can.

And now to make with the pictures:
Click the thumbnails to link to the full size versions. NOTE: The full sized ones are 8.5 x 11 inches, and 150 dpi.

This one shows the changes/ differences in the ridges between the forearms, because for some strange reason they did not just mirror one arm. For those who want super-accuracy.

And here's the ODST pepakura file thread, for those of you who haven't seen it yet:
ODST WETA Landfall ver. Pep armor by SKG and crew

SPECTACULAR! These are going to really help scaling and detailing. They've already confirmed my thoughts about scaling the forearm to myself. :D

And drawn by hand....... Wow..... Major skills. :not worthy:

I suck at 2-D work, I just can't do any decent work unless it's 3-D (computer model or physical)

After looking at these, I think my shoulder might be a tad small. Oh well. Look great Ruze!

Incredible Ortho skills Ruze! I am impressed! I think your scaling and everything is just about as good as anyone is gunna get really. Excellent job!!

great job. im going to start on the body armor for WETA probably tomorrow. i already started the helmet. This looks great

:D
Thanks for the happy words, people! Nice to know they look right!

Eventually these will include buckle and strapping locations, rivet spots, and everything else I can cram into them... but for now I'm just trying to get the basic armor figured out. This is going to be as screen-accurate as I can get without being able to get to the actual suit, too... so strapping solutions and such will be what they used, not whatever is cheap and easiest...

And @SKG: You're not too bad to work with either! :p It's definitely been a fun project.

This is really great! These are great reference, especially the torso is fantastic! I think a lot of people will be happy with these, in combination with the uber ODST pep files.

that's awesome, but i'm abit dissapointed at WETA, they changed the ODST armour a bit.but still those ar aewsomw pics man!!!!!

Thanks for the interest guys, glad they're being enjoyed...

And now for the unpleasant update, for anyone who might be waiting on these drawings or to anyone interested in seeing them done:

Progress has halted, if not gone backwards.
A nice out-of-nowhere New England thunderstorm crossed paths with a family "emergency" the other day, and to make a long story short, in the 45 minutes I was out of my house (that I left all windows open in) the location that I always set my art lapboard in became thoroughly drenched.

Ink from printed reference pictures ran all over my pencil/ inked drawings, and the paper I draw on does not hold up to rain well either.
The blueprints I've both started and completed are ruined, as are the original templates I was using for everything...
I do have everything I've done for this scanned, so there is nothing that cannot be replaced (reprinted, lightboxed, and redrawn), but it was pretty discouraging to see so much work scrapped, and it might take me a little while to get motivated to restart it.

I think I'll be taking a short break from all the ODST stuff to tackle another small drawing project for the community before I get going on this again.

Sorry to hear that Ruze. The drawings were excellent and a great source. Glad you had them scanned! Hope not too much got ruined. Thanks for all your work on these and everything else.

I'm so sorry man. This is wonderful work, I know whatever you work on in the meantime will be just as awesome. Best of luck getting everything sorted again.
