I voted for "Sure, just give me credit.", I'm happy for anyone to use whatever they need and at the end of the day they're not my models but some credit for the time spent unfolding would be good :)

Though, I have to admit I do like the lightning and sound effects that come with the "no" option

I don't like my work being reposted because I own it. I don't care what people do with any modified beta files i post, because I don't own them. The likes of the Scout, ODST and Hayabusa helmets took me a long time to make, I will probably put them on my website for people at some stage and put a link in my signature.

If we repost the files with crediting, that will give us recognition even if it isnt on the forum.....
the bad part is that someone could take it and put it on their site and not credit you.....

and do we have to repeat a YTMND vs Ebaums World?

look it up.

Add text to the pepakura file, but the text can easily be highlighted and deleted. Otherwise, there is no way to water mark it unless you texture the piece, but with all that hassle, it isnt worth it.

I dunno, I dont like this whole wiki download database thing, I feel more comfortable where all files are listed on the 405th site.

I really dont like all our files being off onto a wiki which people can google and steal, atleast here, people know first hand who made the files and they can understand who we are. Would you like another halo armor community to be made by leeching off our hard work?

I'm giving the poll a few more days- I'm going away-from-computers anyways- but the consensus seems to be that posting it elsewhere is OK, as long as credit is given.

Now, some of you still have a problem with files being reposted, even with credit.
If your files are linked in the wiki, you'll be notified through this forum. Make sure your contact email is correct here.
If you want them taken off the wiki, we'll do it- but I'm going to make sure it's clear what happened to people reading the wiki.

I'd like everyone who makes or works on pep files to sit down and think about the credit issue long and hard.
Is your name on a file worth the 405th losing possible members?
Even further- what makes you think your files haven't already been ripped of your name and reposted?
Isn't seeing your work benefit others the real reward?
Also, be aware of the incredibly murky copyright status you may have over your work- it's originally Bungie's, anyways.
It's all in the Google index now anyways- have a look: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=EVA+pepakura

i dont have a problem with the file being reposted else where but i dont like them being re-uploaded even thoe the original links still work. i went for the 'sure just gimme credit' option', i like the freedom of information idea but theres no reason the person who worked on getting that info shouldn't be credited with the work they've done... does that sentance make sence? i think im reading it wrong... ohwell.

with the amount of work people put into these edits, revisions, and original designs, I can't blame them for wanting a little credit where it is due. Plus, it helps identify who's model you're working from and makes grounds for comparison and improvement.

I mean, i may have worked on the halo 2 grav hammer from the 3ds file in the game, but i did take like.....an hour to make the open edges and scale it.......i would like to be recognised for something, even if it is kind of twisted and strange.

I do get where you can go and say you dont want your files on the wiki. It IS a wiki, you CAN take it off if you want.

Mines not. My work belongs to me. I don't own the designs or character likenesses, but I have never charged money for my halo models. I am completely within my rights as a content creator to want to maintain control of my property. I'm really not that worried either way though, as you say information wants to be free, all would take would be some child to download one of my models (which I make available freely) and upload it to mediafire. There is nothing I can do about it. It would just annoy me, and I wouldn't bother creating any more original work for this club.

Couldn't you just like watermark it by making a 3d name thing beside the model,
then when unfolding the piece just move the pieces of the name off the fold list, or page list.
Sure it would take a while but if it was a pdo file theres no way people could remove the name off the model.
