Pep scaling question.

If I was going to make the Hi def flying squirrel helmet how would I scale it?
The robogenisis regular def helmet I used needed to be scaled up 20% if that helps at all. Thanks in advanced.

Well I made a FS HD helmet, and I scaled down 20% and it was a little too small. I'd recommend trying 16-17% down, depending on how much bigger your head is than mine. I'd also try the size tester model, just to be sure. its worth the time.

Good question! but I would suggest PM-ing a few people on the forum who have built them before. Not necessarily start a thread as a first resort. And it really doesnt help that what you had to do for Robo's helmet, they are two different creators, and have two different scaling methods.

Depending of your size. and the file you use.

The one I unfolded is scaled for 6' people. It fit me perfectly.

What I did was scaled the helm in Robo's "Basic MkVI Pack" and took that assembled height, and put it into the FS model.

Here's what I do:

helmetfitting.jpg

First, I measure the distance between my ears. This measured distance will be equal to the length of the blue line on the left side of the diagram above. This will guarantee that the helmet will at least go over over my head. I then adjust the scaling or assembled height so that the length of the support strut, shown on the right side of the pic, is equal to my measured length between my ears. I check this length by printing the page of this strut on regular paper.

The fit is perfect, despite me having a large head. :p

Tell me if you guys think this looks right. I tried making the tester :D. I think I'm going to add 3 cm to the height so I have room for lining and so it won't hurt as badly getting my head through the neck hole.

nope not at all your not muscular like the chief lol jk

but in all siriousness your going to need it a little bit bigger to fit the padding

I disagree entirely. Padding doesn't need to be HUGE. I don't know what scaling method you used, but it looks okay to me. (But then again, I only threw together the seize tester to make sure my scale wasn't too small.)

That's a good technique,

Sorry to bump, anyways.
Is this that peice?
It looked like it, but the piece next to it was flipped around the other way, and the one pictured above is too small to see the numbers on the flaps.

Just for clarification, I mean the one on page 2.
The one that's highlighted.
I think I know how to scale it after that...

I agree with Nicky (Sorry ^^)

My unfold was done like 3 hours after the file release, in a rush. I believe only 1 person used it lol.

(Points Skullcandy Girl ^^)

YO SHOULD USE ROBO'S UNFOLD!

It looked really good. The link is in his progress thread.
Which one of those should I use?
There's two of them.
And from what I can see neither of them look like the one I have now.
Besides, other than it was rushed, what's wrong with this one?
I guess I'll have to see the other unfold...
if I can find it...
???

Meh, I'll just try the HD MK VI (not the one doc used or whatever).
Thanks for the help.

I thought that just the unfold was different?
The whole model is different?
Seriously though,

Please use the Edit button.

Go in Flying_Squirl Thread.

You'll see a list of unfolded files.

Ral Partha's file is clearer than mine.

sorry bout that, I'm used to facepunch where successive posts auto-merge.
Anyways.
Ral Partha...
Alright, I'm guessing this is a different thread than the one in robo's signature, so I'm a search for it.
the thread I got the file you unfolded looked different than it anyway, so yeah.
Again, thanks for your help guys.
EDIT:
Is that the one on the wiki?
Because the unfold in that uses way more pages.
And when I searched for "fs helm" I couldn't find the thread.
