PePaKuRa costume scaling

So obviously I'm new to 405th and I'm also new to costume design. I'm trying to make my first suit of armor I'm using pepakura but I'm not sure how to make sure its gonna be the right size and also how to put the straps on the armor so that i can put it on and fasten it correctly if anyone can help it would be appreciated thanks.
