Many, many things were either refined, finished, or started since 2 pacific time today (I woke up around 1). They are, as follows...
The elite feet (1337)
and a close up.
The feet are made of hard insulation foam (10'x2'x2" block is $13 at home depot), layered and sanded down. It produces a huge pink mess. The toes are foam raided from an old sofa cushion, and are pliable so they don't snap off when walking. They should work for elites, as there is a bump on the back of the elite's foot at the same location a human heel hangs off of the edge of the feet (look at a profile image of the elite). They add about 10 inches of height.
My friend playing with the feet and my BR...
Also today, I started two SMGs, with a total cost of 7.50 each. They're made with the same process I used for the BR; multiple layers of foamboard.
Finished bondoing, but they're still unsanded. The bottom one has a half-made silencer, which is removable.
The ammo goes on the face-down side of the SMGs in the previous picture. There's a magnet in each clip that locks it on to the gun. Three of the four clips are pictured here.
I also made a papercraft elite helmet. It's resined now, but it doesn't yet merit another picture.
It was a very productive day. Friends coming over and going nuts over the stuff was a big self-esteem/ego boost; particularly the fan-film's director (in the feet, with the BR) being ecstatic. They won't stop rubbing in, however, that I am now qualified to be the top Halo nerd in my High School, yet have played less than 5 minutes of the game.
