I have not seen anyone else attempt to finish their pepakura in the fashion I chose to do. I get sever migraines very easily so I am unable to utilize most of the chemicals involved with Pepakura. I have found though that if my husband does the resin work and fiberglass work while I am away from home, that I am ok. That being said it does not let me do the detail work on my own helmet. So I decided to attempt to skin my helmet in 2mm craft foamies. I really like how it turned out.

Here is my helmet before anything.

Well, the helmet is finished, and painted. Here is what it looks like

Do you think that's easier to work with? Sense you said you use foamies I take it that they are made out of foam, so I was gonna ask if you plastic dipped the outside so that you could paint it or did you just paint the outside without adding anything else?

andrewjd1124 I plasti-dipped the outside. I used 2mm thick craft foam. It is very lightweight, and very mold-able. When I heated the foam and started to form it it was more like molding clay then anything else.
Mstruvmgc The helmet is very lightweight compared to my husbands, which is coated in bondo, and rondo. It is very sturdy as well. It took less time then what my husband had to go through. The coating took me a couple of hours for the whole helmet.
