Progress At Last! Kind Of :$

well, i get bored, like to make bespoke stuff, then try to work out ways of making them more practical...

although my ideas for what i want to do to this suit are getting a little silly, including fitting a thin steel strip down the right hand side (inside) of the torso and a switch activated electromagnet to my AR (and a similar thing for my pistol) so i can carry my weapons like the MC....actually here are my many slightly dubious and crazy plans for what i'd IDEALLY like to do with my suit

1) the magnetic weapon mounts

2) instead of fibreglass, use sheets of kevlar fibre coated with the smart paste (the glass bead suspensions stuff i have read about on here elsewhere) and adding hardened steel strips to the arms and legs for protection, and mounting trauma plates in the torso (available on ebay for $12 :D )

3) cooling fans in all of the large pieces of armour (helmet, chest, cod, thighs)

4) using EL wire to light around the inside of my visor, and helmet opening hole

5) Wiring the suit so that i can control all the electrics with tactile button switches sewn into my gloves (using a double layer of gloves with the switches in the finger tips so they can be activated by pressing the finger with my thumbtip, and detatchable sockets to make it easier to put the suit on

6) Directional mics in the ears hooked up to headphones in the helmet, with a volume control on the hand plate (i saw someone actually looking to do something similar on here, and i'm empted to steal their idea...if i can find who it was, i'll credit them for it)

7) Fitting rechargeable battery packs into the chest plate to power everything (very doable...an outdoors company in europe have just released a line of jackets with electric warming elements in them powered by thin flat rechargeable battery packs sewn into then)

8) hinging the front of the cod for calls of nature

9) Pockets in the belt...and now chest (thanks balthazar)

10) making the ass plate from high density foam so i can actually sit in it with out cracking the damn thing! (i dont know if the finished models of the vets on here can be sat in, so this is just a general idea, pluss, the butt plates not that detailed!)

11) lining the undersuit or the armour with aluminium caoted mylar (emergency sheets for camping, and marathon runners) to reduce infra red signature (you know, to go with the bullet proofing for when i actually want to go to war in this thing..... ;) dont judge me)

12) Giving the helmet IR night vision capability (easier than you think, but heavy as hell, and requires moe money than i have!)

what can i say, i have a lot of time in labs and lectures to think this stuff up (i've also worked out how to survive a zombie apocalypse), the most likely options that i'm going to include are 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

I've been told (shameless big bang theory quote) that i'm one failed experiment away from super villainy.......

MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :tutu:

here are a few WIP pics of my new chest piece and my clean and tidy and very well organised work desk!

and my box of assembled bits (pick and pack is also the best way of getting card for this in the uk, its about £7 for a box full, very useful!)

finally think i got the scale right on my helmet 27.7cm in height seemed to work for my massive head!

does it look right to you guys?

i tried it on, but it felt too big, but i didnt scrap it,m thankfully, since the remake was so small (i tried it on, couldnt get it over my shoulders, and twigged at that point...it wasnt for me!)

ooo btw, you might have had got a reply to this but to re-enforce the ass plate, get a pice of metal.
an add some pading to it. that should work great!

i had not, that doesnt cover the actual exterior of the assplate being protected from scratches though, but it does protec me from getting shot in the arse!

and i've been tinkering with my handplates, i've given them a rough sanding down, i sprayed leftey white to pick up on imperfections.

and righty i have started testing the water with filler, its rough, and looks rather like something i produced one morning after a heavy night out!

i'm hoping sanding will make it look less hideous!

i'll see what i can muster, but after the sacrifices i had to make for snow, south wales has been stripped bare of livestock, so it might just be squirrels that i can sacrifice for you! :p

well, i made sure to keep the layer thin and then i was just going to work it up gradually day after day so that might help.

and yeah i did go a little excessive on the filler, but i'm just playing about for now, learning by doing!

i massively doubt i'll be done before you though, i dont know why you havnt set your helmet as complete yet, its beautiful!
