PS3 Exclusive Haze-Epic Fail

IGN got their review of Haze for the PS3 and it tanked. 4.5!?!? How do you get that? Anyway, published by Ubisoft, it kept being delayed and was supposedly going to be the next great shooter for the PS3. It even had the EVA helmet. I was going to get since i have a PS3, well, i guess not.

Speaking of Haze, listen to some things I've heard about the story...

You and your men are out to destroy an alien race of some sort, but later in the game, you somewhat join together on shaky ground to destroy another race that comes in... Halo anyone?

Yaw, as it happens I've just come off IGN after reading the Haze review. Sounds lame. Shame, it had promise. Anyways I think Halo/Xbox 360 has the PS3 beat for FPS titles..........at least until Killzone 2.

halo has a pretty default sci-fi plot lines.

actually the story has nothing to do with aliens. in the future, private military companies rule the world, and you are part of an elite one called Mantel Industries. You fight with Mantel-based steroids called 'Nectar' that makes you a super soldier and halfway through the game you switch sides, finding out the company is evil...yada yada yada....pretty generic.

It is kind of difficult nowadays to design something that doesnt resemble something else, so the similarities between Halo and Haze are somewhat understandable.

Not that I don't love my 360, and also refuse to buy a PS3. I'm just a realist. PS3 has some obvious advantages over 360. It's all preference, so what use is arguing?

Anyway, I laugh every time there's supposed to be a "Halo killer" for PlayStation. (Wasn't Killzone 1 supposed to be the last one? Didn't it fail too?)

Oh yes, the PS3s ability to play Blu Ray disks totally makes up for the lack of decent games.

Not trying to get into a ps3 vs. 360 debate, blue ray is the only real advantage the ps3 has (and halo makes it up for the 360 anyway) if you look at the tech specs, the two consoles are remarkably similar.

I'm not a haze fan, but for people to say they copied off halo completely, you are really weak.

Daft punk has been out for a while, maybe bungie ripped off daft punk. That eva helmet is looking too similar, the that recon armor visor is looking a bit thin like the other helmets from daft punk.

Bungie never copied off them, but things come out similar. Plus, haze has been in the works for a long time now, theres no way they could have copied off halo 3.

I bet if it had been an optional drive like the HD-DVD drive was for the 360, it would have tanked.

Of course, PS3s are still tanking anyway. Their lack of getting decent games on the system is the primary cause. Notice I said gameS, as you need more than just one game to make a system good. HAZE was suppose to be pretty good, but too bad you can't judge a game by it's cinematics.

PS3's next saving grace will probably be MGS4. Too bad, they said the series is over after this one.

I say there really hasn't been an original idea in decades as everyone draws creativity off everyone else.

Though some of the comparisons are sort of unjustified.

Poor wii has the worst games. I blame stupid sports games compiled in a week then shipped out to stores, and kids games which are never really popular at all.

I agree. Very possible. But hindsight is 20/20 and Blu-Ray is the winner now. So, yeah, PS has that advantage. Hell, I only know 3 people with PS3s and 2 of them bought it cause it's a cheap Blu-Ray player, that doubles as a console.

Aren't there a lot more games for 360 though? So, their average would be pulled down by all the crappy games that are also released.

I got a PS3 also when Resistance was the 'rave' and everyone wanted it . jk. i saw something on Attack of the Show a while back stating that Blu-Ray is trying to get an import on 360's and get a Blu-Ray 360, since HD-DVD died.

I don't get it why blue ray is a reason to buy a ps3. pc users have had (near) HD for ummmm ages? plus, for FULL HD you're going to be spending quite a lot either way.

as for bad games: luckily, we can all decide which games to buy. also, for my wii, i don't buy many wii games, i buy... GAMECUBE games, cause guess what? 99.9% backwards compatible to gc. hey sony?


@Zenzeigan: The Wii is cool as long as you don't expect it to be a hardcore gaming console. it's more for casual gaming, so you play 1h max. a time. If you really want a 360, consider selling all your wii equipment (but seperate! this will get you more money than selling everything in a bundle). you'll still get a reasonably amount of people buying if you sell it for 20-30$ less than retail.
