I'm not sure if there is a sticky somewhere I couldn't find with this resource, but www.destinystlgenerator.com/ is a fantastic resource if you don't own any item in-game to look at. It's interface could use a bit of work (essentially a big dropdown). The only file type it kicks out is STL, so be advised.
I've noticed Autodesk doesn't like the STL files this spits out, but Sketch Up (with and STL importer) seems to do fine. Another bonus is the model is available as a whole piece, or separate pieces. Conveniently, when I imported it, it maps the coordinates so that if you were to import a helmet, gloves, leg armor, and a chest armor, it snaps to together to look complete.
