I thought it would be a good idea to build a thread for all the various things we tend to buy for our costumes rather than building them ourselves... although, for those that DO choose to make custom pieces, this is a great spot to list them as well!

Please comment below with what you've used in the past for any of the following items, and if there is something (including categories) that has been left out, it will gladly be added!
I can also remove things as needed.

Please also mention what game your build is based upon, as certain items might be better suited for different variants of armor!

Neck Covers & Cowls:
Custom Made:
BlueRealmStudios
• LilTyrant's Kat Build
BluSpartan's Neck Seal and Undersuit Progression
• You could also do a fabric Stormtrooper neck seal with vertical ribs rather than horizontal ones. (Several tutorials out there)

Face Mask + Scarf/Neck Cover Options:
Mission EnduraCool Black Cooling Towel - $19.98
UA HeatGear® Tactical Hood - Link 2 - $23.88
FR Hot Weather Balaclava, Black, Universal - $33.78
Schampa WarmSkin SkullGaiter Facemask - $23.95
Schampa Stretch Billy Facemask - $14.95 - Not sure if this comes in black
Zan Headgear Microfleece Face Mask with Mesh Mouth - $13.95
Black - Heavyweight Flame and Heat Resistant Tactical SWAT Hood - $29.99
Black - Wintuck 1-Hole Face Mask - $6.99

Gloves:
Almost all gloves that you see here on the 405th, are either Paintball gloves or Tactical Gloves.
(These do not include or count as the Hand Plate Armor on the backside of your hands)

Custom Made:
Sean Bradley Custom ODST Gloves
• LilTyrant's Kat Build (Her "robotic" hand)
• Uratz-Studios - Halo 4 Hand glove sculpt

• Very frequently used by members of the 405th
• Can be improved upon if the hard parts of the gloves are painted to match your armor
• Great for Halo 3 and Halo Reach builds
• $17.00 - $20.00

M-Pact (by Mechanix):
• Haven't seen these get used by anyone (yet), but I thought they would work well for a Halo 4 build
• Sleeker than the Rap4 Gloves, so should be better for Halo 4, you only have to worry about covering up/removing any lettering.
• Comes in different colors so that the might suit your Halo 4 build better
• $34.95
http://www.mechanix.com/m-pact

CG Full Leather (by Mechanix):
• Haven't seen these get used by anyone (yet), but I thought they would work well for a Halo 4 build... assuming you can find a way to dye the leather.

Compression Shirts:
Whether or not you build a custom undersuit, you have to start somewhere, and that's usually with a Compression Shirt.
When looking at these, you want to avoid ones with logo placement or designs that would interrupt the look of your armor.
You also want to try to find ones that won't continually slide up as you wear them. You can always try velcroing them to your pants though!
• [Recommendations Needed]

Compression Pants & Armored Motorcycle Pants:
Here's a few miscellaneous Armored Motorcycle Pants, the lining on them may work better for use as your undersuit than standard compression pants:

Compression Pants/Shorts:
• [Recommendations Needed]

Boots/Shoes:
For this category, do you prefer using foam as the entire boot? ...or do you donate a pair of shoes to your build? ...or do you build your boot so the shoes are removable?

ANARCHIC Boots:
• Recommended by Gilmore for use as ODST Boots
• Already have a large profile and add a nice amount of height

Pads (Elbow, Knee, & Torso Motorcycle Armor):
6515R McDavid Hex Knee/Elbow Pads:
• Elbow Pads (Hex Patterned)
• Found out that this gem was used as the Elbow Pads for Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix
• Thought it would be great for those doing Halo 4 builds with Hex Patterns.
• $28.99

6500R MCDAVID Hex™ Shooter Arm Sleeve:

I'm gonna try to make my own halo 4 gloves from scratch however im not sure which material to use for the glove and the trigger finger armor also would like to know how to attach all the armor compnents to the glove without any detrimental effects like the glove ripping apart where the armor pieces are attached when i use the glove

Something I've noticed when I see most of the suits on here -- Too many people aren't covering their neck.
This is a cheap and easy way to fix that. Search on eBay. I bought one myself.

AGREED 100%! Easiest way to make a well done costume look cheap and incomplete. Super easy fix. I bought one, but didn't use it because my shirt zips up all the way turtleneck style.

Found these gloves at the Homeless Depot. They're really comfortable, have a nice little hexagon pattern on various points, and they're only $15. Same gloves I used in my glove armor video.

Why is this not stickied? I think it would really up the overall quality of the builds on the site if people new quick and reasonable solutions like the ones you've shared. As well as the really accurate and expensive ones like that $450 undersuit?!?! :) Thanks Wanderer!
