Rules for costuming at Comic-Con?

I'm not attending Comic-Con this year, but I'm planning on attending in 2012 (or 2013). While I realize from now until then, things may change, I'm trying to find a list of rules about costuming. I've scoured their site but can't seem to find anything.

When I attended ACen there were plenty of rules about the size/shape of costumes, so I want to know what similar restrictions exist at Comic-Con. If I plan on bringing my Hunter there, I know it's possible for it to be in the Masquerade (at least based on my experience with ACen) but as far as waltzing around and showing it off? I want to know these things...

Any links or advice based on experience would be super helpful.

Thanks!

I have heard that they've had some issues about oversized/pointy-ish props, just due to the crowded nature of the con. I'm unsure about the actual costumes though.

I think one thing they have is that if your costume is in the masquerade it can't be shown on the floor until after the masquerade (saturday).

If you're planning on attending comic-con in the future, you should follow the california costuming group. =D

Their site is rather busy, isn't it? I'm kinda shocked they don't have a big wonkin' ATTENDEE RULES AND POLICIES link somewhere screamingly obvious like... every website for every other convention I go to. o_O

All I could find was this: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_fastfacts.php
And all it says about costumes is all in regards to weapons. Soooooo... policy-wise you SHOULD be good. But given their really huge space issue, might wanna email them about it.

Any bulky costumes it always pays to have a handler with you. If this comic con is a success, I'm sure I'll be at future ones and I'd be more than happy to wear a nice comfy UNSC Marine costume for escort. I'm sure there's other 405th folks that'd be glad to come along as well.

Comic Con is pretty unique to a lot of other cons I think because they have actual hired security so they rely on them to handle any possible issues more than on the attendees.

I wonder, are metal swords and lifelike-toy guns allowed to bring to Comic-Con? The rules of our major convention in Norway are very strict, so that's a no-go for us otherwise. Just curious about other con's rules.

If you find a number for customer/attendee services or something like that, I'd say that's your best bet to get a person answering those questions for you. If they can't asnwer directly, I'm sure they could let you know who to ask that could.

@Mads - Typically, no lifelife weapondry of any kind is allowed at any of these events unless they can do what is called peace-bonding. If you're going to do weapons, make them a solid piece with no working parts or make them out of a safer material such as a dense foam or semi-soft rubber. Here's a little more about what peace-bonding is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace-bonding

That's probably going to be a big problem for me, next to funding a way to transport my costume to San Diego. I don't know anyone in California and I won't be bringing any friends (because I'll be moving out there, anyway) so I didn't know if I'd even have a handler. I figured I'd probably just find a way to do it myself, or like, pay someone to help me.

I can't walk around in it until after the masquerade? Okay, I suppose that is fair. That will give me time to see the con, anyway.

Well,

As far as metal weapons or lifelike guns, from what I understand metal weapons are no, but fake lifelike guns are okay.

It's still a while away, so I'd double check when it gets closer.

As for moving out to California and meeting people, again just check out the 405th California group. :)
