Depends on what material your sculpture is made out of...

Well if you're making a silicone mold you don't want the silicone to stick on to the sculpture or you might lose details. You just want the silicone to lie on the sculpture so you can easily remove it when it cures. You probably don't need a mold release since silicone only sticks to silicone. Correct me if I am wrong on all of this.
 
You can apply you silicone directly to the clay.

For technical questions like this don't hesitate to contact the manufacturer by phone.. they're usually very helpful.
