In case anyone is interested I'm doing my first small project.

A high detail SMG.

So far have put 1hr into it.
Low on free time so it'll take me a while.

Good luck! I have an SMG that is just pepped right now so maybe we could swap tips and tricks. Hope to see this thing turn out! I just remembered this: glue Popsicle sticks on the underside of large pieces so it keeps its shape when glassing.

I now don't regret putting the post up. That popsicle idea, would've never thought of that.

Cheers mate

Alright so Ive put together a few now and before I go any further, do I put a row of paddle pop sticks on most of them to keep form or just the longer pieces?

Can only glue them in now before I lose access to the inner panels.

Pretty sure that's what ya meant. If wrong, oh well.

Next few days won't be free to touch it [emoji29]
Fun times

Dont ever regret doing a build, regardless of what people think. If you like it, that's all that matters.

More of a matter of everything being a learning experience. Build one, learn how to do it and learn from any mistakes for the next one that's going to be even better.

Think I'm getting addicted. Just sat still for 2hrs and felt like 30mins.

Few more tweaks and I'm onto resin.
Now I have it in my hands it's so cool!!

Looking good once you have finished the resin work are you going to to cut it in half and fiberglass or leave it whole and put a hole in it and pour rondo in it or somthing just wondering
cause ive always thought of making a weapon but didn't really know on how to strengthen it :p

After reading all the fiberglass on inside and other stuff. Uhhh I didn't really think that far ahead[emoji24]

I like the sound of the rondo. Could cut where the barrel would be. Fiberglass the barrel separate. Fill the piece with rondo then attach the barrel before painting and such.

Get to that when I do.
Thanks bud

Just putting this out there.
The project is suspended for now. Need some coin for the tub of resin.
I've bought Bondo and when I bought a resin for it the working time is only 5mins and goes hot... Casting resin. :cry

The gluing, taping, etc. are all done. It'll just be a while for me to buy another resin tin to continue is all.

On an unrelated note I have plans for my first suit. Chose ODST as the category as I thought a regular sized human would be the best looking as I'm rather short.

Hey I just had a brilliant idea.
- Resin the outside.
- Cut it in half.
- Resin the center pieces
- Then mix Acetone and Styrophone.
- Use Pep as a mold.

Conclusion:
Smg made into a solid plastic model. Where is the fail? There must be fail.
