I used a matte white spray paint, not metallic, and you can find the chest piece on the front page of google if you search for it. There is even one with a full chestplate so you can just enter the same scale as on your actual chestplate.

Alright I have finally gotten more of my pictures from Zenkaikon.

Apparently Stormcloaks get very angry when you insist there are only 8 divines... imagine that...

Cicero was amazing, and in character. He seemed to get along with very well with the Meta. something about the sneaking and Bruteshot shanking I imagine.

Even the Staff wanted to hang around with the Meta.

This guy was funny, when he saw me he pointed to his friend and shouted "Hey Agent Maine, this is the guy who shot you in the throat! Sic Him!"

I also met some other RoosterTeeth cosplayers from RWBY.

So yeah, very fun weekend. By 12:00 Saturday I was very tired out from being on my feet most of the day.

Great pics! Your suit looks great. Looks like you had a good, if tiring, time at the con.

I LOVE that your suit went over so well, and it looks great in every picture taken. (not to mention everyone looked like they were so happy to get a picture with you!) Still really diggin that Brute shot! :D

Wow great job! I wish I was able to keep up with this thread but I had to go away for a bit, but seriously awesome job!!!

Awesome build here!

thanks!

yeah, I kinda made it relatively quickly. I was on a roll hahaha.

Thanks! The bruteshot was a somewhat rushed job, So I am glad that you like it! I wish I had time to make the little strip by the barrel and the black reinforcing along the blade, but oh well. Now that the deadline is passed I can go back and do it all right though. :)

All right, so I learned at the convention that I did a very good job with the comfort aspects of my armor. What needs work is durability, the ability to carry stuff, and something "more". I am going back now and doing all the things I wanted to do before and ran out of time.

My first major improvement has been to the accuracy of my bruteshot.

Photoon5-10-14at1102PM_zps9cbf06f2.jpg

There is a small block of foam underneath the upper barrel that I neglected to add originally. I also put the weird metal hook thing onto it as well. Next I want to cut the orange tip off so that the length of the barrel is accurate, and add the little plus shaped slits into it. I also want to use one of those cheap square metal belt buckles for the grip/handle which is supposed to be over the top of the barrel.

One thing that I noticed at the convention was that it was hard to carry stuff. My bruteshot did not go on my back, and my helmet was hard to see other people's Cosplays in so I took it off frequently. I would like to modify the top of my bruteshot so that I can put stuff (water, wallet, phone, etc.) into the Bruteshot for storage. I also want to put the metal buckle solidly into the gun so that I can hang it over my shoulder.

Glad you had fun at the convention. Takes a lot out of you but I feel it is worth it.

I hear you on the comfort and stuff. Using your brute shot as a carrying case is a great idea. I use camera cases. They are small and military looking and not a fanny pack. I also added 2 mountain dew containers to the back of my belt. People thought my suit was gamer fueled.
Adding you phone to your gauntlet also draws attention and very functional.

I am working on improvements for Odikon in August.

I spent a bit of this weekend installing the front handle to the bruteshot. Basically I bent a plastic clothing hangar using a heat gun and gloves into the shape I needed, spray painted it silver, then put black hockey tape on it. It was surprisingly hard, I wasted 2 hangars before I was able to get the hang of heating without burning it, and bending it without snapping. I am working on the open/close of the magazine now, like anything else it is more complicated than I originally thought.
