==Spot Putty Tutorial==

Materials you’ll need:

Finger
Latex Gloves
Bondo Spot Putty
Armor Piece Etc.
220=360 grit sandpaper

The spot putty Ill be using a ruler with a ridge in the middle and removing the ridge.

When you open up the spot putty, make a big enough hole on the tip. I think they tell you to just use a pin. But that just makes it hard as hell, and the putty will actually bust out of the back of the tube if you squeeze too hard.

Squeeze from the back of the tube just like any other tube of something, so you get as much out as possibile.

If some areas where the bondo is a lump or blob, sand down before applying spot putty, it will make your life a lot easier.

You probably have bondo on your piece already, the spot putty is to smooth the areas where bondo may have gotten chipped or is uneven.

Sand down your piece (with the 360 grit) for the major parts like streaks or rougher areas.

If you have your spot putty with you and your latex gloves on, dab some on your finger. ( I dont have gloves, but I highly reccomend them because spot putty is terribily hard to wash off)

Apply to areas that need it most, it runs out fast.

Take your finger and run it up and down the piece.

You will probably sand the spot putty a little more later, so don’t bother getting it super smooth.

Here is where we are at

Once you have your spot putty applied to your piece, take your sandpaper and sand it to make a bit smoother.

Once done, let harden for 25 minutes or so and then sand with 220 grit.

Brush off dust and paint over it.
There is another type that Sisko has pointed out.

The Tube says "Grey", the correct Color is a TAN Brown,

He says "I dont know how toxic the Bondo Spot Putty is, but this little Tube smells like the Plastic Glue for that REVELL Modells, you can smell it, but not so intense like Resin, also you can make this in your Room or anywhere else.

This little Tube costs about 3USD (100g Tube) at the cheapest Store i could find in the Net, also it exist a can with 250g, should be cost about 2-3USD more (Dont know how exactly the EUR-USD Curse is, but in the most Cases its the same, also 1:1)."

If you see anything that may be fixed please let me know.
If results do not turn out, you can not blame me

Here is the results with the Presto tube

So it's like any other type of putty/spackling/sandable filler?

Seriously, I don't think this would really help anyone. Tutorials are great... they just need to be useful.

Ehh, I was bored so I wrote a tutorial, good point, but what if someone has never used any type of spackling putty etc. this would be the tut for them.

Keegan: add some pics and you got yourself a tutorial. Otherwise it's just instructions. What you have here is still helpful for the uninitiated, just not as much. ;)

Yes, I know that now, but I didnt have gloves at the time, thats why I highly reccomend them. But you know, stuff happens.

I'll add another tip to Keegan's tutorial in the making.

When you open up the spot putty, make a big enough hole in the tip. I think they tell you to just use a pin. But that just makes it hard as hell, and the putty will actually bust out of the back of the tube if you squeeze too hard.

Very good advice. This happened to me the first time I bought resin + hardener. The hardener was really old and the tube was brittle and it busted everywhere. Wow it was awful....toxic stuff everywhere V_V

Good Tutorial, but wanna say something too, for the Stores they not had Putty or Filler from BONDO, a another Mark called PRESTO have the same Materials.

Some new Guys, like me, would not find the right Stuff, especially the Spot Putty, it looks exactly like that:

Found it already a Week ago, but doenst know that it was the same

Very interesting Sisko, would you say the results came out the same as the normal Bondo Spot Putty? How much was it? Just incase if it has the same quality as the Bondo but, if its cheaper then it would be reccomended over the more advertised product.

Sry for the late Reply, but had enough to do at Work..

So, today i was back at the Shop where i buyed it, cause it has an other Color as it stands on the Tube, they said it´s normal...but i think they had some colorblind Workers *gg*.

The Tube says "Grey", the correct Color is a TAN Brown, you can see it at the attached Picture (BTW: Does i do it right that Way it looks?).

I dont know how toxic the Bondo Spot Putty is, but this little Tube smells like the Plastic Glue for that REVELL Modells, you can smell it, but not so intense like Resin, also you can make this in your Room or anywhere else.

I think im gonna put it on the whole Helmet, hope i can paint it on the Weekend, the smoothing takes more Time than i calculated^^

EDIT: On the Pic there are some Places they not look so smooth, thats because i puttet a little more Spot Putty for the bigger uneven Places or some Holes.
But at the Place for the Lights it looks great, i sand it tomorrow and post more Pics.
