myself and my group may not be and BrisNova :( the type of stuff we do atm is kinda frowned upon at nova unless we have a Booth, but if you going to go to zombie walk my team will be incharge of the entrance :) if you see us there in our tac gear ask for Merlin and my team will point you in the right direction, and im sure you will be fine at Nova no matter what anyone says, just dont listen to them you are there to enjoy yourself in something you have made yourself. People that say bad things are just jealous of your tremendous skill

Might have to check out the zombie walk this year Marves2142. Thanks for the encouragement :D

Not much of an update this week :( Did a massive cleanup around the yard this weekend and after 7 odd trips to the tip, there was not much time for working on the build.

But I can't leave you guys empty handed so here is a sneak preview of what is in the works

Not hard to guess it is the start of an AR ;)

Till next time,
Spyda

looking great! that pistol is awesome and the rest of the armor will be on par. looking forward to the finish of your build.

UPDATE TIME!!!

Back again after a short hiatus of one weekend lol, I was getting a little armored out and needed a bit of a break and nothing that should have been getting done around the house on weekends was getting done. But I am ready to go again and have an update for you guys.

BOOTS!!

Started off with a store bought steel cap.

Then came the foam.

And finally painting.

Still have to add the black and yellow stripes on the lace guard things, and some elastic to go under the boot to stop it from riding up as I walk. Have to also make some ankle covers to hide the rest of the boot and laces though it may look ok without...will see how it goes once the shins are made.

Let me know what you guys think!

Looks good, I wouldn't worry too much about hiding the boot. I personally like the piping look on the back and to me it fits in with the suit. I you want to hide the laces, you could try adding an extra foam piece similar to what's on the under suit. It kinda looks like a sloped stump, not sure what else to call it. Looks like they're used as an anchor point for the armor pieces (in the game.)

Like this one here. #36

Thanks CLOTHAR.

I know the bit you mean Spartan-214

The Carter figurine shows it well :D

Was thinking of something like that but am a bit worried that it might flip out while walking and rubbing against the shin piece. Then it will look like the tongue of a shoe hanging out lol

But wait...my boots do have those hook things on them.

Maybe I can hook it onto them somehow. Hmmm something to think about ;)

I still spin out when you comment drack @_@ Thanks!

Kitnip your build is fantastic too!! *Spartan-chick fist bump*

Small update... found the yellow paint so boots are fully painted!

Thanks man! (I still go through a heap of foam just muddling the pieces together...just don't tell anyone lol)

UPDATE TIME!!!!

I am working on the shins....At the moment I am pretty happy with the fit but am worried how well it will hold up under strain of walking around all day. I still have to add more to the backs of them (plus they are a little messy at the back, quick glue together for shaping and fitting, hence no pics of that bit :p)

Without the added protrusions.

...and with

I didn't add extra pieces for the protrusions, just cut the shape into the foam and off-set glued it back into place. (If you get what I mean lol) Basic shaping has been done to the bottom edge but that's about it.

It was a mission and a half to make this thing from scratch but that could be because my brain doesn't seem to be wanting to work all that well lately :angry Maybe it has something to do with the fact my 11 yr old also wants a costume now for supernova in november...he ultimately wants the Elite spec-ops armor (from Reach) - yeah maybe next year - so I am thinking something easier like Assassin's Creed Altair which is mainly sewing.

Anyway let me know what you all think :)

Foam holds up pretty well its more the paint thats a problem, but that can be fixed with a latex paint, or flexible fabric paints, the good thing about foam in Aus, in summer is it heats up a little letting it flex a little bit more, so you shouldnt have any problems walking in it

Your foam work is awesome! I'm still trying to wrap my head around how you make it look so perfect.
